All together there were more than 5000 files that were changed. Any references to non-secure links or images had to be replaced, yet internal links need to be retained. The PHP compiler is upgraded to version 5.6 so a ton of depreciated functions need to be replaced with new ones. Despite a full month of testing, we still ended up with dozens of bugs to fix after release. The frenzy from fixing the major bugs were crazy stressful. It's the second week now and the major problems had finally been fixed... sweatdrop
What made things more fun was that we started getting reports of hacking, where the 13 year old Sushi server were leaking user's IP addresses to other users. We had to convert Towns 2, Rally, and Virtual Hollywood to run on the SmartFox server which zOMG is currently using. The conversion was done over last weekend but there are still plenty of bugs to fix...
Overall we now have a much more secure site, code now run a little smoother and we also fixed even more backend bugs during the whole migration.
As a side bonus, we also upgraded the image libraries. Avatars now take up less space and look a tiny little bit better. Can you spot the difference?
