: My Stories:
I have an imagination the size of the universe. If ever I do become a famous writer like Christopher Paolini. Though I will never be as good as him.
Not a second past did Josten’s head pop back in,
“Are you hungry?”
“Famished,” she laughed. She got up and went out of her room, down the hallway and into the kitchen to see the man whom she assumed was Terrance. He looked up startled as if he was in a trance of some sort and just awoke to a place he didn’t recognize. She kept her face calm, but those eyes were so familiar; a pale blue-grey. He was in all black leather and had silver hair that hung down to barely touch his shoulders; his bangs couple inches shorter. His skin was a light tan and his outfit was oddly out of placed in her village.
“He carried you here, I showed him where to go,” Josten said proudly.
“Thank you,” Denzin said. “But a man as brave as you must have a name. Terrance is it?”
“Where do you come from? Your clothes are funny.” Josten poked at the man’s black leather shirt.
“Josten It’s his business.” she said sternly.
“It’s fine, I’m tired about having to make things up. I am from far away.”
“But that doesn’t tell me anything ” Josten protested. Denzin came around and had a seat. “Well are you at least human?” he persisted. Denzin sighed.
“In ways, yes.”
“What does that mean?” Josten was getting annoyed when Denzin chimed in,
“Terrance what brought you here?” she asked mildly. Denzin seemed all to comfortable with this strangely dressed stranger. Then Josten noticed that this stranger seemed to comfortable with his strangely dressed Denzin and before her could even get a word out the front door bursted open and in came Garn the burly black smith with his mallet ready to strike Terrance. Denzin immediately threw a small butter knife at Garn, it hit his mallet handle and stuck there as it flew out of Garn’s hands and landed with a thud on the floor. Garn scratched the back of his head.
“Er, one of the village people said you were in trouble, er ummm, said some monster had you,” he picked up his mallet and took out the butter knife. Denzin slapped a hand to her forehead for some reason, as if embarrassed or something. “Oi Terrance? Bloody hell man is that you?” Garn gasped and gave a boisterous laugh. Josten looked to all three of them when he finally got it,
“Garn ” Denzin looked to him then to Josten.
“Wait, you know him Garn?” Josten asked ignoring Denzin’s gesture.
“I’m not going to hide everything from the little man,” he walked up the Terrance. Josten asked again,
“Garn you know him?”
“Hell sure I do So does Denzin here,” he picked up the man in black and gave him a crushing hug.
“So, you lied to me Denzin?” he walked out of the room without another word.
“Josten ” she called after him. She looked to Garn who still hugged Terrance and walked out. Denzin turned the corner to the tree that grew next to the kitchen window. Josten sat under it stabbing the ground with a stick. Denzin wiped her hands on her thighs trying to explain the last moment and she made her way to Josten. She sighed and squatted next to him, after a few silent moments she said something, “I’ve betrayed your trust, I’m sorry. If I don’t tell you things it’s because I want to protect you.”
“I don’t need protection,” he stabbed the ground again and for a second Denzin thought she saw a blue spark jump from his hand. She bit her lip. “You only do that when something’s wrong.”
“I do don’t I,” a wind blew causing her hair to sway gently. “Would you like to know me?”
“I thought I did?”
“You remember when I went away for a long time?”
“Ya, but where’d you go? You were gone for two years and you came back different but you were still the same Denzin.”
“Yes I was and am, I knew I had to come back to you. I went all the way to the other side of the world and let me tell you it’s far more different from this side,” as honest as she was being she left out important facts such as she didn’t just go cross the world, she traveled across time. “Well, on the other side the world they have a thing called running water...”
“Like rivers?” he asked.
“No not like a river, like having a well inside being brought to you and you know what it heats itself too. They also have better transportation as well. Like metal mechanical things they call cars and motorcycles.”
“And can they come here?”
“No not for a long time, it’d take a while for someone to get here,” she added. Josten got up and dusted himself off.
“Let’s go there then ”
“We can’t,” she replied.
“You have to,” Terrance stepped out from the porch. “Things are happening on the other side of the world. Things they need you for.”
“They? Who’s they?”
“Friends,” Denzin put a hand on Josten’s shoulder.
“Josten ” Teelya called out from a distance.
“It’s late we’ll talk more in the morning. Promise Off you go!”
“Promise ” Josten smiled and ran off. Denzin followed Terrance in and slammed the door,
“He’s not going!”
