Around 5:00 today we had to take Wishbone to the Vet. He could hardly breathe at all (he was going "honk honk honk" wink . His tongue was purple, as well as around his nose andpaws; he was yacking up some sort of clear flegm. The doctor gave him some oxygen, a couple of shots, and gave him meds. Then she referred us to the animal hospital by the airport (by this time he was going "hi hi hi" in a squeaky voice). They were already expecting us, and a lady took Wishbone into some sort of ER and gave him a sedative. She actually put a breathing tub down this throat, and she said something about a lot of mucus coming up while they put it down. His lungs must be filled up with something. She brought us back there to look at him. Sure enough, there was the tube downhis throat, his tonguehad some sort of clip on it and was hanging out of his mouth (at least it was pink again) and was sedated. Ipet him for a while, and it was weird how he didn't jump up andgive melittle dog kisses. She told us a lot of things that could be wrong with him, then said that they'd keep him there overnight with the oxygen, then they'd call us to give us an update.
Just ten minutes ago, the doctor called and told me everything. He said that one of the vet techs took the tube out of Wishbone and he started acting up in under only an hour; he was not excited or anything. The doctor told me that his trachia collapsed, and that the left side of his voicebox was not where it was supposed to be, blocking the larynx (or something). Two flaps in his trachia were stuck together from the mucus (eew, I bet it was dried and crusty), and coughing would only make them hardly flutter. He said that there were a few things they could do: They could keep him constantly monitered while on oxygen, but that would cost hundreds of dollars an hour. Another, they could do a surgery to put a hole in the trachia where he can breathe out of, but there were too many complications. The third option was euthanasia, which the doctor said might be Wishbone's best option.
I don't know what I would do without Wishbone. He's like my little brother who happens to poop and slobber everywhere.
Edit: My dad's talkin' to the doctor and he said he's not gonna make it.
Second edit: My dad just gave the okay, so the vet people are injecting him, like, now.
