Ecstacy Chapter Two
Aoshi Kitai stepped outside the hospital. The rain had softened a bit and night had come. Aoshi leaned against the building and put his hands in his pockets. He sighed, he thought his was going to be a normal day, but it wasn't.
It started off with Aoshi walking to Es' house. Es wasn't there which was strange. Aoshi looked in the house but still no Es. Then Aoshi looked in the only other place Es could have been. It was a secret meeting place that they went to when something bad happened. Es and Aoshi had only meet thier twice, once when Es' hermet crab died and once when Es failed second grade. Aoshi found Es at Kore's house. Kore used to be Aoshi's best friend, until Kore started being cruel, or maybe Aoshi was just becoming soft. Kore had tried to kill Es, and that's what scared Aoshi the most.
He pulled his cell phone from his pocket and dialed Kore's apartment number. The answering machine came on,
"You have reached Suicide Hotline. Please wait 5 minutes while we prephare a therapist for you."
Kore's voice sounded. Aoshi always loved that away message. The phone beeped, signaling for the message to start.
"Kore I know you're there." Aoshi said. He waited a few seconds and the phone picked up,
"Comming to chew me out? Want to kill me?" Kore asked camly.
Aoshi tried to hold back his anger, which was hard because it was the emotion that was taking control of him at the very moment.
"Why did you do it?" He asked with bitterness in his voice.
"I didn't want to kill him, I just wanted to, erm, make sure he stayed here for a little while."
"Because you know he doesn't like you! Why would you want him to stay at your house?"
"My girlfriend-"
"GIRLFRIEND!?" Aoshi said in disbelif. A lady walking into the building gave him a strange look. Aoshi ignored her, "Since when did you have a girlfriend!? Arg, nevermind that, what does Es have to do with her?"
"She wanted to see him."
"So you had to almost kill him?" Aoshi said. He swore at Kore, "I don't believe you! Did you know what I would have done if you killed him? He could have been hurt for life! And you hit him in the HEAD, he is already slow, now he might even fail another grade! All for your girlfriend!?" Aoshi said in disgust.
Kore sighed, "I don't want to know what you would have done if I killed him. I'm sorry though."
"Bullcrap!"
"Why don't I make it up to Es. I could take him somewhere special."
"You two? No way!" Aoshi said. Obviously he let the anger control him.
"It wouldn't be alone. You could come and so could Sabrina. Es never holds anything against anyone, love keeps no records of wrongs, Es would be happy to come, I know it, especially since you will be there with him." Kore said innocently.
"What's that mean?"
"Es might be a bit...cautious around me. He'd feel much better if you came."
Aoshi thought a moment and sighed,
"Whatever. Just let me talk to him and then I'll get back with you okay?"
"Sounds fine with me."
Aoshi quietly walked into the hospital room. They had applied stiches as soon as possible and now Es was resting. Aoshi wondered what would be a good time to ask Es about what happened. Aoshi felt like it was his fault, that Kore hurt Es. Aoshi felt like it was his responsibility to protect Es.
He walked over to Es' bedside. Es looked really peaceful when he was sleeping. To Aoshi's suprise Es opened his eyes.
"I thought you were asleep." Aoshi said. Es didn't reply. He just stared off into space with a blank expression.
"Why did he do it?" He asked, his voice flat.
"I...I'm not sure." Aoshi hated telling Es that, but he didn't want to lie either. Es looked to Aoshi for all the answers, and Aoshi felt bad when he didn't have any.
A tear rolled down Es' cheek.
"She's gone..."
"Who is?" Aoshi said, fearing the answer. He pulled a chair up and sat beside the bed.
"Mom...." He said. He closed his eyes tight to prevent the tears. Aoshi put his hand on top of Es'.
"Is that why you were out in the rain?" He asked softly. Es nodded slowly and began to cry silently.
"I have no one to come home to..." Es' mother was bad, she never said she loved him, but he still loved her, "I wished that Kore woud have actually killed me, but then I remembered you. I didn't want to make you lonley, I know your family rejected you and that you don't have friends. I didn't want to make you sad." He said, having a hard time getting the words out.
Aoshi felt moisture in his eyes. He blinked,
"I think you made a good decision."
"Me too." Es said with a weak smile.
A few days passed and Es was able to get out of the hospital. On the drive to Aoshi's apartment Aoshi decided to ask Es something important.
"You'll get pretty lonley all by youself." he said, not taking his eyes off the road.
Es nodded sadly.
Aoshi cleared his throat, "Why don't you stay with me for a while? I won't mind."
Es slightly titled his head to the side,
"For serious?"
"Yes." Aoshi said. The light turned red and the car slowly came to a stop.
Es' eyes widened. He toke off his seatbelt and jumped up and hugged Aoshi,
"I'd love to! Thank you so much! I promise I won't be bad, I'll clean and I wont annoy you! We can be like roomates, because you're starting collage next year right? Instead of having one at school I can be your roomate!" He said.
"Yes, like that. Es, get back in your seat, the light just changed."
Es blinked, "Wow that's faster than normal..." He said, getting back in his seat.
"Uh, and another thing," Aoshi said nervously.
"What?" Es asked, still with happiness in his voice and a smile on his face.
"Kore said he was feeling bad that he hurt you, and he wanted to make it up to you..."
"K, Kore?" Es said, with fear somwhat in his voice.
"Yeah, him. He wanted to go somewhere "special". You don't have to accept his apology, but if you did I would go with you."
"Yay! I'd feel much better if you were with me." He said.
Aoshi pulled into the driveway of Menekko Windscar's home.
"Get your stuff."
"K k." Es said, getting out of the car. Before he shut the door he said, "Tell Kore I accepted his apology."
Aoshi sighed after Es walked into the house. He forgave everyone, no matter what they did to him.
Kore's cellphone went off. He smirked, knowing it was Aoshi.
"Aoshi-san."
"He said he would go."
"I'm so relieved." Kore suspected Es would say yes.
"Where are we going anyway?"
"Es likes pizza doesn't he?"
"Yeah..."
"Pizza it is. How about at six tonight?"
"Whatever..." Aoshi said apatheicly. He wasn't looking forward to this. He hung up just as Es came up of the house with a suitcase. He put it in the back and got in.
"Pizza at six." Aoshi said. Es looked at him, puzzled,
"What?"
"Kore wants to go for pizza at six tonight."
"Oh!" Es said. He smiled, "I love pizza."
"I know."
"Do you?" Es asked.
"Yep." Aoshi said, pulling out of the drivway and heading home. He smiled again. He had such a sweet smile.
Kore walked along the dark streets. It was still afternoon but the alleys were dark. It was a scary place to be but Kore didn't have fear of the noises, the dark, the people, the cold feeling that creapt about the ruins of houses and lives that were once okay but that were now broken.
His long coat dragged across the asphalt, his boots making clicking noises as the metal hit concret. Someday he would waste Es' pathetic life, someday soon. Why he hated Es, he didn't quite know himself. Es toke Aoshi away from him. Aoshi was Kore's best friend, and when Es came along Aoshi forgot Kore. Es turned Aoshi soft. Aoshi used to be apathic, not caring, not loving, cold, but now he laughed, he smiled, he didn't get as mad easily. Kore didn't want to see Aoshi unhappy, but Kore didn't like the fact that Aoshi had changed. He hated Es because Es was so annoying. He wasn't smart, wasn't cool, wasn't athletic and wasn't good looking. There was nothing special about him. He was worthless, he couldn't do anything right, who could someone like that had a purpose in life? Kore wanted to end Es' misery, Es would forget all about it after he toke his last breath.
Kore stopped at a building. He knocked, forming morse code. The door opened and he walked in. Sabrina shut the door and looked at Kore,
"What did he say?"
"Yes." Kore said. He stood in the middle of the room, examining it. There were a few bookcases, a deak, a sofa and a table. This was were coven members. Kore himself was not a coven member, but he was slowly becoming one. He needed to show intest in the study of magick and he needed to repsect it's platform, realzing the full depth of the religion. Kore was slowly learning, and it helped that he knew the coven leader.
"Good. When is it?"
"Tonight."
"Tonight!" Sabrina said in surprise.
"I wanted to make it as soon as possible, Aoshi agreed."
"I suppose that's okay. Yes, doing things as soon as possible is always good." She said. They toke a seat on the sofa. She looked at him, "Nice coat."
"Isn't it though?" He said with a smirk.
Sabrina scooted closer and leaned on his shoulder,
"It's getting colder you know. Fall comming soon. It doesn't help with the wind, it's always so strong and cold."
"I don't really mind the cold." Kore said.
"Ah, aren't you the lucky one." She said with a smile.
"I don't like heat though."
"Aw, then I guess I'll have to push Es into the fire."
"Pushing Es into a fire? I don't think I'd mind that."
She laughed, "I don't even want to know what kind of childhood you had."
He smirked, "Good, because I wouldn't want to tell you."
Aoshi walked up the staris to his apartmet, which was located on the second floor. Es ran up because Aoshi wanted to carry his suitecase. Es was jumping up and down when Aoshi made it to the door. He quickly unlocked it and Es ran in. Es had seen Aoshi's apartment but now he was acting like it was a castle he has never seen before. Aoshi hadn't even got enough time to full walk in before Es ran up and hugged him.
"Thank you much!" He said. Aoshi thought Es would cry. He had even forgotten all about Kore and his mother.
"You can sleep on my bed, I'll take the couch." Aoshi said.
"I can't do that, I'll sleep on the couch!" Es said. He sat on the black leather couch, it was soft and comfortable.
"You sure?" Aoshi asked, he knew Es would give up anything to make others happy.
"Yeah, I'd even take the floor."
I know you would.
"As long as you're okay with it." Aoshi said. He looked at the clock, "We've got three hours of free time, I think we should leave at 5:40. In the meantime, you can put your clothes in the hall closet, it's close to the bathroom."
"Okay." Es said. He toke his suitcase from Aoshi and started unpacking.
Aoshi walked into his bedroom to put away his coat.
"Aoshi," Es said.
"Yeah?"
"Did you ever get lonely, being all by yourself?" He asked, folding his shirt and carefully placing it on the top self of the closet.
Aoshi paused, then sighed,
"I was around you all day, and sometimes Kore came. At nights though, it's quiet and dark. Sometimes when I am sad at night, or angry, I don't have anyone to talk to...you know, I am glad you are staying here." Aoshi said softly.
Es smiled, "Me too! Then he started getting teary eyed, "Because, because I would have been so scared and lonley and sad!" He cried.
Aoshi smiled. He had such a nice but rare smile.
"We couldn't have let that happen, could we?"
It was 15 till 6, and Kore and Sabrina started walking to a local pizza shop. It was chilly, there was a slight breeze. Sabrina wore a light jacket as where Kore wore his long black coat. They walked hand in hand, down the twisting sidewalk. At night things were a bit scary if you were out alone. The streets were cold and quiet and dark, sometimes you could hear an ambulence or dogs barking. There were many old houses and some places teenagers liked to hangout around them. Often times creepy looking people drove slowly down the neighborhood, everyone, including the tough people, knew to be cautious of them.
This time was perfect though, it was dark but not exactly night. Soon it would be night, but Kore wasn't afraid, and niether was Sabrina.
"Lovley night isn't it?" Kore asked.
Sabrina nodded,"Though I'd prefer night, but this is good too."
Kore looked at her, "You're not like most girls are you?"
"If you mean that I am not conserned about my looks, clothes, makeup or boys, then I guess I'm not."
"You're different from the non-girly girls too."
Sabrina stopped, "Are you saying I'm weird?"
Kore smirked, "I am sure am."
Sabrina smiled and started walking again,
"That's the best compliment I've ever gotten." She said.
"Are you just saying that out of sarcasm or do you mean it?"
"Oh come on, you I'd NEVER use sarcasm. I actually meant it."
They turned the cornor, the pizza shop was only a block away.
"I don't get very many compliments."
"Aw, why not? It's obvious that you're good looking!" She said with a smile.
Kore also smiled, "None of the girls at school think that." He said, "They all think I'm weird."
"Then we're both weird."
"Being weird isn't so bad." Kore said.
"Yeah. In fact, I love it." Sabrina said with a sly smile.
Aoshi opened the door to the pizza shop an spotted Kore and a girl he didn't recognize, sitting at a booth. That must be Sabrina. Aoshi walked over to them and Kore looked at him suspiciously. As Aoshi toke a seat Kore jumped a question on him,
"Where is Es?"
"He wanted me to take him to the mall, then we went back to my place and then he told me he'd meet me here."
Kore wasn't buying this but he played along.
"Oh, okay, I just hope he comes soon."
"I am sure he will." Aoshi said.
Kore smirked, "Hopefully he won't get lost."
Aoshi glared at him but didn't say a word.
Ten minutes passed before Es came. The door opened and Aoshi and Kore turned to see if it was Es. Aoshi stood up and was about to walk over there until he noticed Es' clothes. It toke on look to make the both of them freeze.
Es spotted Aoshi,
"Aoshi!" He cried happily. He ran and hugged Aoshi, almost knocking him down. Aoshi didn't move or say anything.
"Awww!" Sabrina squeed happily, "She's so pretty! Is that your girlfriend Aoshi?"
Aoshi didn't say anything. Es smiled, apparently liking the fact he was called pretty.
"Uh, Sabrina," Kore said uneasy, "That's Es."
What shocked Aoshi and Kore was that Es was in girl's clothes. He was wearing a black short sleeve shirt with white, Japanese flower prints on the front. He was wearing long, tan girls pants that had lots of pockets. He was also wearing a thick black belt with metal rings on it.
Sabrina squeed again and pulled Es into a hug,
"Awww..." She said. Es smiled again. He'd never been hugged by a girl before. After Sabrina got done hugging him he toke a seat beside Aoshi on the opposite side of the booth from Kore and Sabrina.
"Es, looks like you went shopping at Limited Too." Kore said.
"it was actually Deb. They have cooler clothes there." Es said proudly.
"Did the clerk even know you were a boy?"
Es shurgged, "But she said I looked cute in the outfit."
"Why did you even go in there in the first place?" Aoshi asked, a little angry.
"I liked the clothes. I look better in these than my other clothes," Es looked like a normal girl with short hair. It scared Aoshi that you wouldn't have guessed he was a boy and that he fit girls pants that were made for a girls body.
"Did we order yet? Because I am straving and I really, really like pizza."
The waiter overheard and stopped at thier table. They ordered drink and Aoshi ordered the pizza. After he did he said he needed to wash his hands so he left Es and Kore and Sabrina all alone.
Es looked at them nervously. Kore smirked,
"So Es, have fun over at my place?"
Es shuddered and turned away.
"Aw, Kore, you're so mean. Be nice to poor Essy!" Sabrina said.
Es cleared this throat, "Uh, thanks Kore, for the, uh, apology."
"I wasn't really myself back there. You forgive me, right?"
"...y, yeah, of course." Es said.
Es was relieved when Aoshi returned. Es scooted close to Aoshi. Aoshi kept his eye on Kore, to make sure Kore didn't say anything he shouldn't. After the pizza came Sabrina decided to stike up a conversation,
"So...Es," She started. Es looked at her nervously, "How is school?"
Es didn't say anything, he just kind of looked down sadly. Sabrina toke the hint, "Family? Friend?" Still no reaction. She sighed, "So...what are your hobbies?"
Es hesitated, "I like....baseball...food...music-"
"Music?" Sabrina asked with excitment in her voice, "Do you mean music as in the fact that you play?"
Es nodded slolwly, "I tried taking up drum lessons in school and I know some guitar...."
"You never told me that..." Aoshi said aloud. Kore smirked, enjoying Aoshi's reaction to what Es had said.
"I didn't want you to want to pay for instruments for me." Es said. He knew that Aoshi would give Es whatever he wanted, and sometimes he would give Es more than Es wanted, or needed. Aoshi wasn't much of a social person so he wasn't used to giving people things and he didn't know how to porportion it right.
"Aw, but I know that someday you'll use your talent." She said with a smile. Aoshi didn't like the fact that she was so nice. He thought she was over-friendly. Es was over-friendly, but Es looked like he would be. Sabrina wore darkk clothes, short skirts and high, thick boots, not a nice looking person.
Es smiled, "I think I will too." He then looked at his pizza and decided it was cool so he toke a bite, but then droped it and brought his hands to his mouth.
"I could have told you it was still hot." Aoshi said, eating his own pizza. Aoshi didn't mind hot or spicy, or even bitter foods. Es toke a huge drink and sighed,
"Owww...."
Sabrina started talking again, later on when they were almost finished.
"Es, are you staying with Aoshi?" Sabrina asked.
"Im his brother." Es said almost automatically. Aoshi was suprised Es rememberd, he never remembered anything.
"...pardon?" Sabrina said as if Es was speaking in another language.
Es just stared at her, not knowing what to say. Aoshi had to step in, "What he means to say is yes, he is staying with me."
"Ah, aren't you lucky?" Looking at Es but talking to both of them.
Es blinked, "I am...?"
"Eh....never mind that." Sabrina said, giving up on talking about Es.
"What's up for you Aoshi?" She asked.
"Nothing really." Aoshi said, his voice showing a bit of apathy.
"Oh! I know someting!" Es said with a smile, as if this was a game, "This is Aoshi's last year at school, then he goes to collage."
"What collage are you going too?" Sabrina asked.
"I don't know if I will go-"
"WHAT!?" Es said, jumping up, "But, but, but, you have to get smart!"
"Are you saying that I'm not smart?"
"No! But, you need to get more smart! So, so then we can move to Australlia and raise Kangaroos!" Es said loudly.
"Es, people are staring at you. Sit down." Aoshi said, not looking at him.
Es blushed and say down, "My bad."
"You and Aoshi are going to live in Australlia?" Sabrina asked with amusment in her voice.
"To raise Kangaroos." Es said
"You need to go collage and get married or something, not hang around me." Aoshi said.
"But I don't like anyone." Es said sadly,
"I am sure you'll find someone someday." Aoshi sighed. There were a few girls who thought he was cute, but now a days girls were interested in "hot" guys.
"If you say so." Es said, leaning on Aoshi's shoulder, "I'm tired..."
"Es, you're always tired."
"I can't help that! I don't sleep well!" And it was true, it was hard living in a smelly, trashy house, "The bugs laugh at me..." He said with a shiver.
Sabrina, Kore and Aoshi all looked at Es, wondering what he meant by bugs laughing at him. Es looked at them,
"Is there something on my face?" They shook thier heads and stopped looking at him. Es didn't understand what was going on.
Kore held the door open as they walked out of the pizza shop. Es had forgotten his coat,
"I was going to buy a cute one that was black and it had roses on it." he had said, "But I had no more money."
Aoshi gave his coat to Es and they bid goodbye to Kore and Sabrina. Aoshi said a simple goodbye, but Es, who acted as if Kore never did anything to him, hugged him and Sabrina.
Es and Aoshi started walking home.
"Aoshi, do you like anyone?" Es asked looking up at him.
Aoshi looked down at Es for a second and then looked back up,
"No." He said plainly.
"Does anyone like you?" Es asked.
Aoshi stopped dead in his tracks. He cringed, there was that girl named Lauren....He had a huge crush on him, what an annoence she was. She followed him around and talked to him in the hallways and tried doing whatever he did. It was creppy.
Es kept walking for a second, then realizing Aoshi had stopped, he stopped. Aoshi shook his head and started walking again,
"Yeah."
"Really? Who!" Es exclaimed,
"Laruen..."
"The one with the blue hair, like yours?" Es asked.
"Yeah...her..."
"She's pretty, why don't you like her?"
"She's annoying and obbsessive for one thing. If I ever did want a girlfriend she'd be tough but not mean, she would be happy and friendly, but not overly nice, someone who cares about personality...she'd be calm too..."
Es looked up, "Hmmmm, I don't know what kind of girl I'd like. I guess I'll just wait and see."
Suddenly there ws a crash heard from one of the streets. Es screamed and both him and Aoshi turned to the steet. Es ran behind Aoshi and grabbed his arm.
"It's probably nothing, come on." Aoshi said, starting to walk again. Es, still holding on to Aoshi's arm, was pulled in the direction Aoshi was walking.
"You're really bave." Es said.
"It was really nothing to be afraid of..." He said, but Es was right, Aoshi wasn't afraid of many things, mostly because he was just like that. Head light shone on them from behind. Es and Aoshi both stopped,
"When I say go, run." Aoshi said. Es nodded. Aoshi toke Es' hand, so he wouldn't leave Es in the dust, "Go." He said, and they both ran as fast as they could back home.
