The things that live in my head.
I have little ideas in my head. Many of them are fed by my overactive imagination and grow and take on a life of their own. Usually they die off after a while, but I'm getting kinda tired of that. Feel free to comment, it builds their character.
The Demon of Unhealing Wounds.
As i think i mentioned, i like RPs. however, as i also have at the very least alluded to, I can't conceive any kind of full storyline, insted only coming up with bits and pieces. this means no matter how much i might like to make my own RP, even if for no other reason than to have one that specifically appeals to me, i really can't. during a futile attempt to conceive of one, the better part of this scene came to me. i thought it was cool for some reason.

The band of adventurers walked slowly forward along their path, three of them joked quietly to pass the time while El'Thear walked a few steps ahead, leading the way. The elf suddenly stopped short and held up his hand to signal his companions do the same. One of his ears twitched nervously as the three humans looked over his shoulder. Across a short expanse of the plain they were traveling sat a large stone, and atop it squatted a human figure. The Moon was large in the sky and hung low to the horizon, making both man and stone but a large silhouette.

The figure atop the stone slowly raised his arms out to his sides, for the thickly muscled figure and broad shoulders defined it as distinctly masculine. When his arms were straight out to his sides, the stranger straightened his fingers, each of which ended in a sharp point. Suddenly the figure pulled his arms back down sharply, while at the same time it spread two wings out wide behind him. The span of its wings was at least twice that of its arms, spreading beyond the limits of the white circle of the moon. The membranes in the wings were thick enough to maintain the complete blackness of the silhouette, and the hooked digit at the peak of each wing was longer than a human hand. The group that stood, staring at the thing hadn't realised it had it's head bowed, until the wild mane tilted back and two long slightly curved horns emerged up from the shadowy head.

The demon stared at them with unseen eyes for a breaif moment that felt like it stretched into eternity before it spoke, "You are humans," it's voice was low, barely above a whisper, but was heard clearly across the distance seperating them. It was deep, and held a murderous hiss to the breath that carried it. El'Thear sniffed irritably, but before he could make any comment the demon continued, "Mortals. I can slay you where you stand." The demon stood, its new posture making the tip of its wings meat the edge of the white circle illuminating him from behind. The four before him fell into defensive positions at his declaration and sudden movement.

The demon merely flicked his ankles to propell himself into the air and across the distance between them. As the thing was propelled toward them and out of the shadow of the moon, it was as if a living thing had emerged from a shadow, its black outline diving way to red-brown skin, the color of long-dry blood. Its hide had the texture of brick and the long brown mane on its head was only a shade different from its skin, making it heard to tell when the hair ended and the two long horns that grew from his forehead began. As the demon decended on them he smiled, his jaw lined with teeth like a shark, triangular, serrated and fitting neatly together into an eerily white grin. As he landed the demon arched his wings so that they only reached half their full width, but curved back far enough to hit the elf that now stood behind him and knock him off his feet. The demon twisted sideways, raking a claw across one victim's chest, cleaving through ribs, lungs and heart effortlessly, leaving him to fall to the ground with his chest no more than a frayed hole. As he turned one thick wing caught a second would-be hero across the side, but unlike El'Thear, she was stuck with enough momentum to send her sprawling on her back.

The demon lunged at the last of the four still standing, clutching his arms against his sides as the demon bit down on his shoulder. There was a crunch as the row of shark's teeth, along with several others behind it pirced flesh and crushed bone. The man screamed as the demon pulled its head back, tearing free the better part of his shoulder and spitting it to the ground. The scream was suddenly cut off as the demon leaned forward again, this time clamping his jaw around the man's neck. It bit again, ripping out the whole right half of his neck in one massive bite. He released is victim to fall and finish dying as he swallowed the chunk of flesh whole.

He turned and made a short leap to the girl still recovering from her fall. He placed a foot on her chest to pin her down, and only then did she notice that his bare toes were just as sharp as his fingers. He gave her another broad grin, though this time his white teeth were marred with flecks of fresh red. He flexed his toes, piercing her clothing and cutting shallowly into her skin. She cringed, but made no sound. As if unsatisfied, he lifted his heel, making sure to keep his toes in place, then pushed down, punching half his foot through her ribcage and lungs. Again she made no noise, though this time not for lack of trying as he face twisted in a silent scream of pain.

The demon pulled his foot free of the girl, and was suddenly tackled from behind. The sudden jolt pushed him forward, causing him to step forward onto the girl once again, this time crushing her upper-body completely under his weight. With a frustrated roar, he reached over his shoulder, digging his claw into the back of the elf gripping his neck. He hauled the thin figure over his shoulder, caught the elf in his other claw by the neck and stared into the elf's eyes. El'Thear had large grey eyes, slightly wider than a humans, with a child-like look to them, while the Demon had completely black eyes, with amber-yellow irises and slitted pupils. The elf grimaced at the creature, then swung one arm up, a dagger clutched in his hand aimed for the creature's heart. It was intercepted easily by the demon's free claw, which caught his forearm mid-swing. The blood-red creature smirked as it slid its thumb around his neck until the pointed tip was right at the soft spot where his neck began to curve forward into his jawline. It was with minimal effort that the digit punctured his flesh and punched through the elf's throat just above his voice-box. The demon pulled its thumb down, tearing through two inches of elven throat before he tossed the body to the ground with a low malicious chuckle as it bounced once and rolled over twice before coming to a stop.

heart That kind of reminded me of the story 'Bleeding Stones' by Harlan Ellison.
