Ch. 9 - Opening Night
Sakura was walking through the auditorium with an outfit in her arms. "I hope Lee likes this outfit," Sakura thought to herself as she looked around the auditorium for Lee.

She spotted him in one of the corners, but he wasn't alone. Kari was there with her arms wrapped around his neck and with Lee's back turned towards Sakura. Kari spotted her over Lee's shoulder, gave a smirk, and kissed Lee.

Sakura dropped the dress in her arms, gave a small cry, and ran out of the auditorium.

Hearing a noise behind him, Lee let go of his grip on Kari and turned to identify the strange sound, seeing Sakura's dress piled on the floor. He picked the dress up and looked at Kari to see her smiling with pure glee.

"Opening night," Sakura said to herself as walked out of her dressing room. She thought she was going to feel happy tonight, but she only felt pain as the scene of Kari and Lee replayed in her mind. As she walked up to Lee's dressing room, a very distinct and familiar voice was yelling.

"You're leaving ME for HER aren't you?!" was the last thing she heard before she saw a heart broken Kari run out of the room. Sakura looked in the door to see Lee with a hand over the right side of his face.

"Lee, is everything ok?" Sakura asked as she took his hand away to see a red hand print.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Kari and I just broke up though. She took it harder than I thought she would," Lee said as he grabbed Sakura's hand and lowered it. Sakura and Lee stared deeply into one other's eyes.

They regained their grasp on reality once they heard clapping and the voice of Monsier LeFay reciting the introduction.

"Come now Juliet. Our audience awaits your radient beauty," Lee said leading Sakura out of the room and to their places.

When they raised from their bow, the dark red curtain fell to their feet. Sakura twirled around in her dress in relief. She was stopped by a pair of arms that seemed so very familiar, looking up to see Lee smiling down at her. She wrapped her arms around Lee's neck and inhaled his scent; she adored his sweet, earthy smell, but pulled away embarrassedly when she noticed that some people were looking.

Lee opened his mouth to ask Sakura a very important and personal question, but was cut off by a pink blur tackling him. "Oh my god, Lee! You were amazing! You could've done better if this room weren't so stuffy. Or if there weren't so many people here. Or maybe if Shakespeare hadn't written so many lines for Romeo," said the young girl who tackled Lee. Another older girl came in and dragged the girl next to her.

Lee sat up and looked at the two girls. The younger one, who tackled Lee, had light pink hair and pale blue eyes. The older one, who dragged the other one next to her, had bright red hair and blue eyes with orange splashes.

"Sorry about that, Lee. Nyoko here is a little too bubbly for her own good," the older one said.

"Come on, Raha! You and I both know that I can't help it if that's the way I am," Nyoko said.

Lee stood up and stared confusedly at the two mysterious girls. "Ummm..... I have a question. How do you two know me?" Lee asked.

"Well that's a funny story. It all began..." Nyoko started, but was stopped by Raha hitting her upside the head and holding a piece of paper in her hand.

"We saw your name in the program and came to say congratulations." Raha turned and gestured with a careless hand, "come on Nyoko, we've got to go," as she turned around and walked out of the auditorium.

"Bye Lee!" Nyoko yelled as she ran off after Raha.

Lee just stood there dumbfounded, turning to look at Sakura, whose face was tinged pink from the prospect of two people staring as she almost... He sighed, knowing the moment for his question was gone, and instead inquired, "Do you still want a ride home?"

*********************************************************************

Lee unlocked the front door and walked into the brightly lit house. He walked towards the kitchen, the thought of Sakura's face after the play fresh in his mind, all-encompassing his thoughts. "Aunt Roseline, I'm ho...." Lee began, but was tackled by a familiar pink blur.

"Welcome home Lee!" Nyoko said as she kneeled next to Lee with a smile on her face.

"Do you ALWAYS do that?" Lee asked.

Nyoko got up, put her hands on her hips, looking down at Lee as she pouted her lips, and asked, "Is that how you treat your little sister?"

"My...what?!" Lee scrambled to his feet and ran into the kitchen to see his aunt sitting at the kitchen table, with Raha, nonchalantly drinking coffee. Both women glanced up from their casual conversation, their demeanors behaving as if they had been friends all their lives, into a highly-confused Lee's flashing eyes. "Does somebody wanna tell me what the HELL is going on?!" he cried as Nyoko returned to the room, still giggly from their encounter.

Raha cast a dubious eyebrow at Roseline, who simply smiled, if not a little guiltily, at Lee. "It looks like I have some explaining to do."
