Darkness filled the sky that day,
All was cast into dismay,
Oh how I wish not to say,
What happened on that day.
Alice was her name,
And that day seemed the same,
As the many days that came before…
Like days that come no more.
Her memory is forever,
And I never will forget,
That first time we met,
I am forever in her debt.
When none would listen,
And few did see, she came to me,
Like a dove across the sea,
It only took her touch to set me free
But all of life, it has a price,
And the price for her love,
That’s what hard to speak of,
Oh, my little dove…
She died that day,
When the sky was grey,
And I wondered at the sound of thunder,
The gun that tore her life asunder.
