Mousy Girl

I look at you sitting over there,
Laughing and joking without a care in the world
You never look up at me with love in your eyes,
Only with stiff indifference and then you move on.

You’re always breaking my heart when you turn away,
Back to your witty, sarcastic remarks with the people around you
Do you turn away because of the tears shinning in my eyes?
No, I’m just another mousy, indrawn girl blocking your line of vision.

I’m just the useless figure always getting in your way,
The person you walk right by, not knowing that I’m standing in your path.
There is no possible way you can know what’s in my heart.
Mousy girls never speak their mind when no one will hear.

I will never say I love you and reach out for your hand.
My hazel eyes are always downcast to hide the misery in their depths.
So I will cry out my feelings as you walk by me in the hall,
A mind reader you are not, so they will never reach your ears.

I love you… from a simple, mousy girl
