A Complicated Fate (Please Read & Review) [[ Thanks to my wonderful editor and co-creator, Sarete. ]]
Ch. 11 - Magic?!!
Lee had pulled up into the driveway after another day of working at the café. He walked through the front door and said loudly, “Mom! Raha! Nyoko! I’m home!”

Raha returned the response from the kitchen. “Hey Lee. I'm in here."

Lee walked towards the kitchen with a grumbling stomach. "Hey, is there anything to eat? I'm starving."

"Yes, there is. Do you want a sandwich?”

“Yea. Thanks Raha-” Lee was cut off and his stomach stopped grumbling when he entered the kitchen. The problem wasn’t seeing Raha eating a sandwich, it was how she was making his. The bread, lettuce, mustard, and ham was floating around making the sandwich as she was eating her own. Once it was finished, it stopped in front of Raha and then was sent in front of Lee with a lazy flick of her wrist.

Lee reached out and took the sandwich with trembling hands. He stood there silently for two seconds before yelling, “MOM!!!”

Roseline came into the kitchen and seemed to be worried. “What is it, Lee? Is something wrong?”

Lee’s free arm was flailing about and pointing to the sandwich in an attempt to explain what was happening. “Raha… with the bread…and the lettuce…and the coming to me…” Lee stuttered quickly.

Roseline was confused by what Lee was trying to tell her. “You’re not making any sense. Tell me when you start talking like a normal person again,” Roseline stated before walking over to Raha. “Raha, the toaster’s broken. Could you toast me some bread while I get a glass of water?”

Raha nodded and two slices of bread floated next to her. She snapped her fingers and the bread was briefly engulfed in flames. When the flames died moments later, they were a golden brown. Roseline held out a hand and a glass cup shot out of the cupboard into her hand. The glass then floated beneath the faucet and filled itself as Roseline buttered the floating toast with a butter knife, not yet bothering with a plate.

Lee’s face seemed to be paler and his eyes wider. He muttered to himself, “I can’t believe she’s the only other normal person in this house.” He took a breath and yelled, “NYOKO!!!”

Lee heard the voice of his little sister behind him saying, “Yes Lee?” He turned around, hoping to find his little sister looking up at him with her happy-go-lucky smile.

Instead, he found himself looking up at Nyoko, who was standing on the roof.

Lee was speechless and his gaze darted from Rahatani, to his mother, and then to Nyoko. The three then asked simultaneously, “What?”

Lee simply passed out on the kitchen floor.

*********************************************************************

Lee’s life had changed, if not a drastic amount, since he found out that his family could use magic. The only difference was that he now had to take time off to learn Battle Spells from Rahatani, Basic Spells from Nyoko, and Advanced Spells along with Magical History by Roseline.

During one of his lessons with Raha, Lee found himself being slammed against a wall and falling to the ground. He had a wooden sword in his hand and looked up to see Raha staring down at him from a few feet away. She had been doing this for the past three hours during their sparring lesson.

She watched Lee slowly get up and get back into position. “This boy never gives up, does he?” She thought as she looked at him breathing heavily. “That’s enough for today. You’ve taken enough beatings and its time for your Magical History lesson,” Raha said as she took Lee’s sword and put it away. They walked side by side from the backyard and into the house.

“I still find it hard to believe that our family’s descended from witches and wizards,” Lee said with a smile as he lightly rubbed his left arm.

Raha looked at him with her typical less-than-friendly stare. “That’s being stereotypical, way too Merlin-esque. We prefer to be called ‘spell casters’. Much more formal and it pertains to both male and female,” Raha responded as she lightly slapped the back of his head.

“All right, then. I still find it hard to believe that our family’s descended from spell casters,” Lee restated as he lightly rubbed the back of his head and walked down a hall towards their mother’s study.

Upon reaching the door, Lee walked in and Raha left the house. She always said that she had some errands to run, but Nyoko told Lee that she was really seeing her boyfriend. Lee never asked because he was afraid that she’d rip his arms off or something else equally painful.

Lee sat down next to Roseline and asked, “So, what’s today’s lesson?”

Roseline smiled, got up, went to the bookshelf that was against the wall of the study, pulled out a book, and returned to her seat. She placed a ten-inch-thick book in between them and said, “Today, we’re going to talk about our ancestors... Starting in the Beginning with Kai Oshimaru, the Elemental.”

Lee’s eyes widened and his slammed his head on the table. To think that I used to believe my life was difficult already. I just hope that Sakura will understand when she finds out.
