Life isn’t all smiles, far from it. Life is determined by two things: pain and strength. The pain comes from things we can’t forget: every break up or divorce, every death of someone close to us, every failure, every goal unfulfilled, it is the disappointment. Strength come from what we want to remember: new relationships, favorite pets, watching the game or playing pool with your friends, swimming in the lake as a child, it is what we love. These things give us the strength to stand against the howling winds of reality. Life is learning to be strong. Sometimes the strength of another can get us through the especially painful moments, but they cannot be relied upon. Life is learning to have the strength of more than a mere individual, for the battle against an unforgiving world is not something that can be faced by one person alone.
