Night time massacre
On a cold and dark winter night, Jonathan, Steve and Razier wander around in the deserted streets.
They are chit-chatting about everything and nothing.
Suddenly they see a shade flitting in front of them, a dark shadow in a winter white street.
Steve is startled by the shade and asks Jonathan if he saw it too… Jonathan turns his head to Steve, and shows a ripped open throat… Then he falls to the ground, in a pool of his own blood.
Steve screams and runs, Razier turns around, and runs after Steve.
‘’What the hell happened?!’’ Razier asks the moment he caught up with Steve.
‘’We saw some kind of shade passing by, and when I asked him if he saw it as well, his throat was wide open!’’ Steve says while panting heavily. Razier almost trips over his own feet after hearing what Steve said. ‘’B-b-but… Did you see what it was?!’’ Razier asks, while slowing down due to exhaustion. Now Steve slows down as well. ‘’I don’t know… I couldn’t get a good visual on it… But whatever it is, it killed Jonathan, and it’s somewhere out there’’ Steve says. ‘’Yeah, you’re right, we should get home as fast as we can.’’ Razier responds.
The two walk down the street they were in, trying to orientate themselves again. ‘’Damn, we are SO lost!’’ Steve said to Razier. ‘’I know I know… No need to state the obvious’’ Razier responds irritated.
Suddenly the world turns black… ‘’Steve?’’ Razier asks frightened
Yes? I’m right here’’ Steve responds.
Then they both get knocked down to the ground simultaneously and lose consciousness.
Hours later they wake up… ‘’Razier? Razier?! Where are we?!’’ Steve asks shocked, because he can’t see…
‘’I don’t know… We’re blindfolded, so I couldn’t really recognize anything in here, just the smell of rotting meat…’’ Razier says, trying to get his hands out of their chains.
‘’ Ha ha… Very funny Razier, as if this situation wasn’t bad enough already, you make up some ghost story of your own as w-…’’ Then the stench of rotten meat enters Steve’s nose as well.
‘’Urgh, Yuk! What the hell is that?’’ Steve asked. Razier says ‘’I just told you… It’s rotten meat, I recognize it from our refrigerator.’’
Steve started crying, wetting his blindfold. ‘’Razier, we’re going to die here, aren’t we?’’
‘’Maybe you are, but I’m sure as hell I’m not…’’ Razier says while slipping his hand the last inch out of their chains.
Then he removes his blindfold. His eyes take some time to adjust to the room, it’s quite dark, and the air is moist. Then he sees Steve sitting on a chair, chained just like he was. He unties Steve, and removes the blindfold. ‘’There, now all we’ve got to do is getting the hell out of here’’ Razier said, while looking for an exit.
Steve stands up from his chair and looks around as well. ‘’There’s a wind-…’’ They hear a key being forced into a lock.
‘’Hurry! Hide!’’ Razier whispers to Steve.
Steve opens a closet, and gets inside, while Razier hides himself behind a large pillar of some white substance.
Then they hear voices, but the voices they hear aren’t human… They are trying to make up what is being said, but they can’t understand the language the newcomers speak in.
One creature enters the room, Steve can see it through a tiny gap between the door of the closet and it’s lock. It wasn’t human at all… It has a human body, but a large crow head and large black wings on it’s back. ‘’WHERE ARE THEY?!’’ The creature screams out when he sees the two boys aren’t chained to their chair anymore.
Another creature that looks like the first, but heavier appears in the room, and looks around. ‘’Lucifer isn’t going to be happy when we lose his new toothpicks!, they can’t be far though. Let’s go, you look west, I’ll look east!’’ The heavy one says. The other one just nods, and flits out.
Once the other one left as well Steve and Razier re-emerge from their hiding places, and start discussing the best way to handle the situation. ‘’We should just go home as fast as we can!’’ Steve says. ‘’Do you know how freaking stupid that is?! Our house lies to the east! One of them is looking in the east… No, we should go either north or south…’’ Razier responds.
‘’But what if that’s just a trap? What if they just said false directions?’’ Steve asks frightened
‘’Why would they do that? If they knew we were still in the apartment, they would’ve just killed us right here… Unless they are some lunatic type of hunter.’’ Razier says mockingly.
Steve looks at Razier with a frightened face. ‘’Yeah, what if they are insane? I mean, they sure aren’t human… What if they are the type that likes to play around with their prey?’’ Steve says while his eyes swell up with tears again.
Razier hands Steve a napkin ‘’ If they are, we’re screwed… Nothing to do about that, but we can at least try to get away, now can’t we?’’
Steve dries his eyes and responds ‘’Yeah, I guess you’re right. Let’s go!’’
After saying that, they run into the cold night through the left open door.
After running for a while they hear an unearthly scream from behind. They look behind, but see nothing, then they look up and see one of the hunters flying ‘’Crap, they found us! Run run run!’’ Steve yells to Razier ‘’As if I didn’t know that!’’ Razier says while panting. The other hunter joins his partner in murder in the air, and they both start to dive down. ‘’We’re not going to make it!’’ Steve yells frightened ‘’We’ll make it… Razier yells back’’
Then the two hunters reach the ground, and knock Steve down to the ground ‘’HELP, RAZIER, HELP ME!’’ Steve yells from beneath the smaller hunter.
Razier looks startled from his friend on the ground, and the other hunter slowly moving towards him.
Then Razier notices a rusty fence to his right. He makes a short sprint towards it, and rips off one of the old rusty points that are on top of it.
Then the big hunter reaches Razier, and lifts him off the ground in one lift. With one last effort, Razier thrusts the point into the chest of the hunter. The hunter screams out in pain and anger, then falls to the ground.
The hunter on top of Steve sees Razier standing over his fallen companion, and flits toward him, knocking him down to the ground, slashing his face wide open.
Then there is a sudden white flash and a lot of smoke… A figure arises amidst all the smoke.
‘’Stop! He will live…’’ The voice says. The hunter stops hitting Razier and turns around to face the new figure. ‘’M-M-Master?! But why are you here?!’’ The hunter asks with a terrified look in his black eyes. ‘’I came to complete our ranks again… One of you was too incompetent to kill mere mortals. Who did it?’’ The man now clearly visible says.
‘’It was him! IT WAS HIM!’’ The hunter shouts out enthusiastically, certain that his master would kill him off now.
‘’Very well… Then he will be your new companion.’’ The master spoke. ‘’W-W-WHAT?! You can’t be serious master! He killed my friend!’’
‘’Hehehehe… Then he shall kill his own friend as well’’ The master says with a wide grin on his face. ‘’Haha, yes very good master!’’ The hunter screams out happily while getting off of Razier.
Against his will Razier is lifted up by an invisible force, and being dragged to Steve who had lost consciousness. Then a knife appears in Raziers hand.
Razier tries to resist, but the knife slowly goes down, lower and lower, closer and closer to Steve’s throat. ‘’No… No!... NO!’’ Razier does everything in his power to try and stop this invisible power pushing his hand down… But all is in vein. The knife slowly punctures the skin of Steve, and sinks in deeper and deeper, as blood is gushing out of the wound and mouth of Steve. Steve makes some spastic movements until he stops moving again, this time for ever…
‘’NO NO NO!’’ Razier yells out while tears flow over his cheeks. ‘’ NOOOOOO!’’ Then his face starts morphing, his jaws turn into a black bird beak and wings are starting to unfold on his back. ‘’Arggh! What’s happening?!’’
‘’Hehe… I told you I needed a new hunter… And guess what? You’re it… Once the transformation is complete, you will be mine for all of eternity… Or until you die of course, but then you’d probably end up in hell as well, which would make you mine again…’’ The master says with an even wider grin on his face. ‘’I am Lucifer by the way… Now it would be polite if you’d introduce yourself as well, vermin…’’ After the morphing is complete, Razier turns to his new master. ‘’ I am… Razier… Master’’ Razier says, while bowing deep. Then Lucifer disappears in smoke again.
The other hunter yells at Razier ‘’Hurry up vermin, we need to get back to the shelter before daybreak…’’ The hunter takes off to the skies…
Razier takes off as well, taking one last look back at Steve’s lifeless body, with one last tear falling out of his bird eyes…
