This makes me sad. Very sad. I was listening to the news while making myself some delicious PBandJ when I heard this story about twinkies and their new cream filling. Now, I am a twinkie FIEND and when I heard this I about threw my sandwhich at the TV.

Banana. Cream. Filling.

Don't get me wrong, I love bananas. They're delicious. Especially with peanut butter. But do not replace the sweet vanilla in a twinkie with banana cream. Upon hearing this, I had to do some research to see if this was true.

Apparently, twinkies were originally filled with banana cream, but we, the US, at one point had a banana shortage during a war. Therefore was the birth of vanilla cream filled twinkies that we've all grown to know and love. Now we apparently have so many friggin' bananas we don't have anywhere to stuff them but in a twinkie. I'm just hoping they have both banana and vanilla cream filling in the stores, because if they don't, they will get hate mail. Lots of it.... after I try the banana cream filling : )
