Hmm...I seemed to have left out a day...
Okay, so the day after the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and the day before Mt. Fuji, I went to about the coolest place ever. Now, I know you guys are going to hate me for this...but we went to the Studio Ghibli Museum. Studio Ghibli as in the Miyazaki films, as in Spirited Away, Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, etc. The museum was amazing. First of all it fits the movies perfectly. It reminded me a lot of childrens museum in that it was all fun and crazy and extreme. There were hidden doorways, and tiny staircases and all sorts of strange things that you could go find. There was a life-size catbus from Totoro, as well as a life-size giant from Castle in the Sky. Of course the museum store was a favorite of mine... Unfortunately it was at the beginning of the trip, so I didn't want to spend very much, so I didn't buy a lot. Something I have been kicking myself about ever since. There was original artwork from Spirited Away that almost bought, but didn't. I'm so mad at myself. Oh well. It was truly amazing to go. I did get to see a little about the new film they just released in Japan, Tales from Earthsea. Of course it will probably be months or years before it comes out in America. Darn you language barrier. I must say going to the museum was my favorite thing that I did, if only I had bought that art....
