Whose is the face behind the mask?
Half revealed, yet shrouded by ivory white.
Whose glove-covered hand, dare I to ask
That beckons me to step out of the light?
Could he be the spectre who hides down below?
The musical genius who makes our souls take flight?
Is he the composer whom no one can know,
The arcane creator of the Music of the Night?
And is it his voice which sounds in my mind
Late at night, when I'm tucked into bed?
Can it be? Shall I at long last find
That the Angel of Music sings songs in my head?
