After he was done giving them a diatribe, he reached for my hand and dragged them out. I stopped and made him stumble. "What was that all about? Those other vampires, your parents?" I asked. "Nothing at all." he replied nervously. "Tell me." I demanded. "Those vampires are a part of my clan... They live here in this castle along with me and my older brother, Daisuke. My uh... parents are the heads of our clan." Hotaru said uneasily. "And they all want me dead?" I asked tearfully.

"No... Well, yes." He replied shamefully. "And even moreso because you were found with the pendant." He added. "I don't want to die..." I spoke through the tears that were streaming down my cheeks. "Don't cry.... Please, don't cry...." He asked me pitifully as he hugged me. I immediately stopped crying and my face turned red. The other vampires looked at us in disgust. "Look at him, comforting a lowly human." They said quietly.

I hugged him back and I didn't want to let go. For an undead, Hotaru was really warm. I smiled faintly but hid it. "Are you feeling better yet?" He asked politely. "Not yet..." I replied, he was smiling. "Okay, I'm good." I replied happily. "That's good. I don't want my friend to be upset." He said. I forced another smile. He said 'friend'. "Let's head back to the library." He said as we both walked up the winding steps and walked into the library seeing Daisuke reading a book. "Wow, you're acctually reading for once." Hotaru smirked. "Oh, shut up." Daisuke countered. Hotaru walked me in and sat next to me on a pile of books.

"You don't know how rare it is when he reads." Hotaru said between laughs. I started giggling myself. Daisuke's face turned red with embarrasment. "Just shut up..." He growled. "Poor Daisuke." Hotaru laughed even harder. "I'm going to tell mother and father you've been housing a human!!" Daisuke threatned. "I can tell you've developed a liking to her, it would ba ashame if she had an 'accident'." He said. I stopped giggling and leaned towards Hotaru.

"Don't joke like that." Hotaru said carefully. "I wasn't joking... Little brother." Daisuke replied slyly.
