Chapter 3

The snow was soft and powered, and a trail of footprints led west. They were the monsters, for I had become used to their unusual shape and size, from tracking him. I stood and my green-blue eyes followed the path plowed before me. I walked where the thing had walked and the air reeked of its scent. After a few minutes, I noticed something in the distance. A shack, used to house any travelers, was at the end of the path. I knew it was in there, I knew, and yet I followed, as if pulled by the heart, by an invisible string. I stood at the doorstep and opened the door with a deafening creak.
