Born under the sign of wisdom, you are intelligent and wise, naturally charming and popular. You are very attractive and can lure people like a magnet. Although it is hard to describe, the Snake definitely has that certain something that makes you so alluring and sexy. Different from the Snake who seduced Eve into sin, the Snake in Chinese astrology is not evil or dark, but is, in fact, a sexy, normal human being.
Unlike the Rat and the Monkey, who tend to talk without taking a breath, you prefer to be the observer in any situation. Quiet and reserved, communication and negotiation are not your strong suit; instead, you are quite good at giving advice. It is no surprise that most of your friends rely on you for advice and direction, and you seldom disappoint them.
However, you prefer to give advice than to receive it. Furthermore, you will never ask anyone for advice. You are not a social butterfly like the Pig or the Monkey, and you also hide your emotions well. Some think you are egocentric, and many times they are right. You refuse to listen to others and do not judge based on facts or reasons--how can they be right? You know yourself too well, and you have such a strong belief in yourself that you trust only your own intuition and judgment.
You are a deep thinker who is always looking for opportunities. You like to meditate and plan. And, you are very mysterious because you don't reveal your emotions or your thoughts to anyone. You have such a strong distrust for others that you are very secretive. And your memory is so good that if anyone crosses you, you can hold the grudge for years without ever expressing any feelings. Then one day, when the time is right and it is least expected, boom, you strike back without any mercy.
You are a spotlight magnet, and you won't be ignored. Peer group attention and public recognition are the least of what you expect. Yet you are never noisy or deliberately outspoken, and you have an excellent manner.
Some people associate the Snake with laziness because Snakes like to lie still under the desert sun. In fact, Snakes are hardworking people who are determined and talented. A deep thinker and highly intelligent, you plan before you move and you know instinctively how to do things in the most efficient way. You can get the job done in the quickest and most economical way, while everyone else is only half-finished. This is probably why you have the time and luxury to relax afterward.
You make your decisions quickly and firmly. And your confidence can be your best friend or your worst enemy. When things do not go our way, the failure will crush your ego. You will refuse to accept the defeat and see the whole thing as unfair. Determined to follow through with anything you undertake to the bitter end, you detest being left up in the air.
Elegant and sensual, you treat yourself well and enjoy the good things in life, such as good books, food, music, and theater. You can be quite philosophical sometimes; you'd rather rely on your gut feeling than someone else's advice. Amazingly, you are right most of the time, causing people to think you have a sixth sense or are a little psychic.
Many of the century's most beautiful women and powerful men were born in the year of Snake, people like Jacqueline Onassis, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, and Grace Kelly. It is no wonder that most people at some point of their lives are secretly or hopelessly in love with a Snake. Snake people are slightly dangerous and charmingly smart as well as diplomatic, polite, and romantic.
Paradoxically you are an intellectual philosopher, a cerebral person yet you rely heavily on first impressions, your gut feelings, on your sympathies, rather than on facts, or the advice and opinions of others. You choose your friends carefully and can be extremely generous to them with your time and advice. But, you also insist on the same loyalty from your friends. And when it comes to lending money, you can be a bit cheap. Though your sympathy for others often leads you to offer help, the fatal flaw in your character is your tendency to exaggerate--about helping friends as with everything else. If you do somebody a favor, you sometimes become possessive toward them in an odd way.
Another flaw in your character is that though you never "waste time in idle gossip, you are capable of lying." White lies, true lies, whatever you call them, though you don't lie often, you do lie when you feel you can absolutely get away with it.
Financially, you will have good luck. Actually you don't have to worry, as you'll always be able to lay your hands on money when it's needed. Generally speaking, Snakes are fiscally careful but generous with friends and family. You should stick to careers that won't involve any risk--even the risk of working too hard.
In love, Snake men are romantic, charming and have a sense of humor while the Snake women are usually beautiful and successful. But when you choose a partner, you will be jealous and possessive--even if you no longer love the person. Rejection is the worst blow to your delicate ego. The Snake must be received, welcomed, accepted, and approved by those with whom they come in contact. You need a lot of security.

The Metal Snake:
The Metal element strengthens the Snake. Snake people are usually proud and confident and Metal Snakes know exactly what they want in their lives; they are hungry for luxury and wealth, and usually possess the extreme willpower needed to get what they want. This type of Snake is very calculating, possessive, and domineering. They are always looking for opportunity and planning schemes that can help them achieve their goal. The Metal Snakes like to plan alone; they are very secretive because they don't trust others easily. Yet, despite their intelligence, they don't guarantee to achieve their goals, but beware, Metal Snake definitely won't accept failure gracefully.
The Water Snake:
When you combine the calm and intuitive Water element with the secretive and intelligent Snake, you get a strong manager with much to offer. Water Snakes are very business-minded and full of charisma; they know exactly how to manage people and projects and are extremely focused. They are wise and insightful, yet practical and artistic. They don't get distracted away from their goals and always have their ways to influence those around them. But remember, a Snake is always a Snake; never cross one of these Water Snakes because their excellent memories enable them to bear grudges a long time. Someday, they might turn around and bit you on the neck.
The Wood Snake:
The Wood Snake is one of the exceptions. They are wise but not as ambitious, knowledgeable, but not as selfish. These types of people are usually more laid-back and easygoing; they love to work in a creative or innovative environment without too much restriction or too many rules to tie them down. Nevertheless, like most Snake people, Wood Snakes still crave the life of luxury and care about their own appearance. It is no wonder that many Wood Snake people are poets, painters, musicians, or collectors.
The Fire Snake:
The Fire element, added to the Snakes' natural Fire element, makes the Fire Snakes dynamic people. Many Fire Snakes end up as politicians because they are full of charisma and energy and show extreme confidence and leadership, which make people run to vote for them. Intensive and passionate, Fire Snakes express their extreme emotion to both their lovers and their enemies. Like most Snakes, the fire Snake is suspicious and insecure by nature and doesn't trust people readily. Nevertheless, their hunger for power and fame and their intelligence and ambition always take them to the top.
The Earth Snake:
The Earth element brings calmness and stability to the Snake. This makes the Earth Snake less mysterious and ambitious, more like the rest of the Snakes. Yet slowly and patiently, they still reach the goal, just not in as grand a scale. The Earth Snake is usually warm and easygoing, reliable, and communicative. Being the most graceful and enchanting of all Snakes, the Earth Snake tries not to be suspicious and can be loyal and honest to friends and family. They usually have great sense of money; they know about what to invest in and when to stop. The Earth Snake sees the best in people and tries to avoid conflict.</div>
