An update from 'Eclipsed Paradise':

She smiled warmly, hugging the girl.

Nikki widened her eyes.

“This one will surely protect you all.” Cheza promised, releasing the girl and walking towards the airship.

“Cheza.” Phoenix stared after her before his charge sank onto her knees.

“Nik,” he sank down next to her.

“Sweetie,” he murmured, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Nikki leaned into his chest.

Phoenix held her as she hugged him tightly, burying his face into her hair.

The airship took off into the night...

He sat up, looking around the warehouse dazedly.

“Go back to sleep.” A voice ordered quietly, making him look behind him to find the she-wolf sitting atop a tire mound, looking into space sadly.

“Where’s Cheza?” He asked alertly, making to get up; his wounds made him flinch.

“Moron.” She jumped off her post, sitting next to him.

“Where is she?” Kiba growled, gripping her sleeve.

“It’s over now, Kiba. Just go back to sleep.” Nikki replied tiredly, holding onto her partner.

He held onto her, surprising her for a moment before she felt he had fallen back into his dream world.

She smiled sadly, pulling his hand gingerly off her sleeve and settling him back on the floor.

Nikki smiled faintly, standing and stretching the kinks out.

“Tired already?” He wondered, walking towards her.

“It’s almost sunrise.” She yawned.

“Hm. Yeah; time for bed.” He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

She smiled.

“C’mon, love.” Phoenix smiled, coiling an arm around her waist and dragging her with him to lie down on the makeshift bed he’d made earlier.

Nikki looked up at him tiredly as she lay down on her side as he joined her soon, curling up with the she-wolf.

He smiled faintly at her, pulling her into his arms.

She held onto his back, burying her face into his shirt.

Phoenix sighed in relief, knotting his fingers into her black hair as she kissed his collarbone.

“Sleep well,” she murmured.

“Always with you, dear.” He smiled calmly, drifting to sleep.

She closed her eyes, listening to his heart beat as it carried her away.
