"Hey, Lexaeus?"
"Yes?"
"What's stopping us?"
"Elaborate."
"Well, I mean... We all look human, right? Like regular people with hearts, which I totally still believe we have so don't give me that look. So what's stopping us from just going to another world and starting over? No one would be able to tell we were Nobodies, and we could just... Start over. Clean slate. I mean, there are a whole lot of worlds out there. I'm sure everyone could find one where they feel like they belong! Wouldn't that be great?"

"...You think it's stupid, don't you? I guess you would, I mean, Larxene and Axel did too, and you used to be this genius scientist, but I just thought-"
"Demyx."
"-I mean, you and Zexion have always taken me seriously before, so, I figured you'd at least-"
"Demyx."
"-just listen to me, and you've always been the one who hasn't made me feel like a screw-up or a coward, and that meant something, right? But..."
"...Demyx. Calm down. I didn't say anything while you explained, did I?"
"...Oh. Right."
"I was just thinking."
"...s**t, I came out looking stupid."
"You just got caught up."
"You don't have to lie, Lex, but, y'know, thanks."

"The Pride Lands."
"What?"
"It is a beautiful place. If I were to start clean somewhere, it would be in a place like that, a savanna. A more peaceful place than some of the other worlds."
"Yeah? ...That would be really nice. We could even live near that awesome giant waterfall I saw over there!"
"You'd want to come?"
"Well, I mean... If you and Zexion would let me."
"Of course."
"So, that means you'd really want to start over with me?"
"Well..."
"Oh. Right. Castle Oblivion, and all that..."
"Speaking of which, I need to go meet Vexen now."
"Alri- I mean, wait!"
"Yes?"
I just wanted you to know that I think I kind of... I mean, you're... Nevermind."
"Do you want me to wait?"
"Nah, you can go on ahead. It wasn't anything important, ha ha! But... Hey, Lexaeus? Promise you'll come back?"
"Of course."
Fwoosh and then he's gone.
For a moment, Demyx just stares at the spot where the portal closed, silent again. Then, a whispered confession to the hero who will never come back:
"I think I might love you."
