Water Secrets
Stay out.
She shuts out the night
She Shuts Out the Night
Tries to close her eyes
If she can find daylight
Then she'll be alright, she'll be alright
Just not tonight

"Come on, come on! Hurry, the night don't last forever!"

A child, an eager goat, prancing up past hills, skipping onto rocks- Voxden is all of these things, filled with an energy normal people would say that a Nobody isn't supposed to have. Nonetheless, he smiles at her in a way that is somehow genuine, a crescent moon and billions of distant stars providing an excellent background to his messy redhead and madhouse white clothes. He twists and dances in anticipation, way ahead of her.

Xandra, in contrast, takes her time, conserving energy as she makes sure every step is perfect. Voxden's excitement is not contagious, as is obvious in the dull concentration in her eyes and the way she keeps her head bowed, steps slow and steady. By the time she finally reaches the top of the hill, Voxden is doing backflips in impatience, laughing. Momentarily ignoring her partner, Xandra takes a look around. The grass is soft underneath her boots, leaving green stains whenever she takes a step. An entire forest is underneath her now as she looks around, surveying the shadowy trees and the clear sky which stretches above her.

A hand suddenly grabs her arm, spinning her around until Voxden is grinning in her face. She only has time to glare at him, but before she can demand he let go, he's off and away, bouncing eagerly around the one large tree which dominates the top of the hill. "Alright, alright, stay still, just- Stay right there, got it?" Puzzled, she just waits patiently, arms crossed as Voxden takes a few steps back away from the tree...

BAM! His foot slams into the trunk of the tree, causing it to shudder. Xandra only quirks an eyebrow up at this, but by this time, Voxden is backing up again, and repeats the kick- This time, something actually happens. Spots hidden between the leaves of the tree start to show the barest slivers of light, and Xandra blinks, directing her attentions upwards. There are actually little pods, or nuts of some sort, which hang from the branches as well, and now, they're cracked, with light shining through. Not just the plain white light one would expect, like the light of the stars, cold and distant and right, but bluejay blue and cherry red light as well. Lights of all colors, pouring forth from those tiny little cracks...

One final, hard kick, and they suddenly just seem to explode open, and the dark air is filled with a glowing light, a rainbow of colors which warm her skin and fill her eyes. Even as she blinks, wondering, they gently float down, clinging to other branches at some points or to the grass, but most of them find their way to herself and to Voxden, gently clinging to their clothes and hair. With a blank face, she stretches her arms out in front of her, turning her hands this way and that, looking at the glowing orbs. She's not quite sure what to make of them, and tries to understand their make up, how they can grow from a tree but glow like this, when she realizes that her personal space is being invaded. Frowning, she tilts her head up just a little bit, and ends up staring right into Voxden's annoying face. The man looks more like a child then ever, beaming in anticipation, his eyes waiting for... something, as he clenches his fists in front of him.

"What?" she asks, her brow wrinkling somewhat.

"They're pretty, right?"

"I wouldn't know. I guess they're aesthetically pleasing."

There's a pause, and just a hint of disappointement in his eyes before he laughs, softly, and pulls back. "Ah, figures it wouldn't be that easy," he says, rubbing the back of his neck as he places his other hand on his hip. "Still..."

Usually, when Voxden is disappointed or doesn't get what he wants, he raises a big fat b***h fest about the whole thing. It's just something constant with the man, and it helps Xandra know what to expect. This, however, is different, this silent and sad kind of despondency. She's not quite sure what to do in this situation, and for a moment, she just stands there, blinking, the two of them bathed in light.

That's right when one of the last orbs finally falls, unfortunately right onto her face, getting in the way of one of her eyelids. It aggravates her eyes, and even as she's rubbing at her face, a tear is already slipping down one of her cheeks. It's no big deal; she's familiar with tears, having ocassionally leaked them when in extreme pain. A little thing like this is no big deal, once she's removed that orb...

But even as it's gone, the first tear is followed by another. And another. And more after that, pouring from both of her eyes...

There's no feeling to accompany this, nothing emotional but nothing physical, either. Confused, she just stares down at her hands as the tears splatter onto the white of her gloves, looking as if they'll leave stains. The whole thing leaves her bewildered, but before she can brush the event off, Voxden is reaching over. Like always, she initially flinches backwards at the warnings of touch, but there's no need to worry; with just a quick flick of his finger, Voxden wipes one trail of tears away from her face, not even a fingernail grazing the skin. As she watches him, he raises the finger to his lips, head bowed with that same small, miserable smile on his face. For a moment, they only stand there, robed in the prismatic array of colors. After a while-

"Figures. Can't make ya smile, but can make you cry."
