Trip Up

The teasing jabs from the Snipers and Assassins still dig into her, and the Creeper finds her arms shaking from half-remembered anger. She is not some invalid! Just because she uses her hands... She shakes her head from side to side. Okay, she just has to focus. How hard can this be? Once upon a time, she was Somebody too. She has to instinctively know how to use legs.

Tensely, she lowers herself down to the ground. The tips of her bots brush against the floor, and the Creeper pauses. It is a moment of indecision, uncertainty, and then she finally lands. The weight is so great, with her arms held up and all of her focused down on two stubby limbs. A keening something is in the place where her throat used to be, and the Creeper wobbles from the pain. It's dull, straining, but she forces one foot forward, then the other, over and over again. As her steps become stumbled and rushed, she swells with almost-pride. See! This whole walking thing is no big deal. Why-

And that's when the muscles in her legs finally go out.

Flailing wildly as her legs buckle beneath her, the Creeper tries to grab a hold of something, anything.Unfortunately, the halls of Never Was are as empty as the beings which inhabit it, and her grasp finds nothing. Shutting her sight tight, she prepares for the sharper pain of a fall. In her panic, she hears not the twist of air and is surprised when thin and bony arms wrap around her chest. Suspended in the air, the Creeper allows her vision to return in confusion and finds herself staring into a white, twisted mimic of a chest. As she recovers herself, the Dusk which holds her lowers her hooded and zipped head to stare at her.

Are you uninjured?

The counterfeit concern is in itself surprising, and the Creeper can only nod her head numbly, even while her legs throb in pain. Gently, the Dusk sets her down before taking a step back. It sways in place awkwardly before nodding her head, seemingly in satisfaction, before it suddenly darts off, disappearing into the white halls with which she blends in perfectly.

The Creeper can only stare after, and wonder why she didn't think to ask if the Dusk remembered her name so that they might meet again.
