A quite but kindhearted person; Hikaru or 'Hiccup' as he has become for his clumsy and aloof manner is one of the kindest people anyone could meet. A sensitive guy often burying his head in books or writing poetry, Hikaru is a talented writer and very intelligent. This makes him very witty when it comes to it but apart from when it is needed Hikaru may never speak at all out of pure shyness. His clumsiness can often get him into trouble and his shyness often sees him picked on.

A special tactic Hikaru uses is a strange hybrid of martial art styles in order to make his own way of fighting which relies on blocking and countering with lightning fast strikes.
Battle Strength:
Hikaru's artistic ability has made him very creative and above all else very observant using this in conjunction with his intelligence, it makes him a very capable strategist and formidable fighter able to plan strikes and movements in a fashion similar to Shikamaru leaving nothing to go to waste.
Battle Weakness:
As well as being a speed archtype leaving him with not a lot of physical strength, Hikaru also has two other key problems; the first, is his clumsiness which can strike in the heat of battle and land him in very compromising positions and second his inability to handle pressure well can make him freeze.

Hikaru can manipulate the shape of his shadow and bring it to life in a diverse amount of forms a lot like Sai's drawings. Hikaru can only create certain things depending on the surface area of his shadow though meaning there are some shapes that are beyond his capabilities. He can compensate for this by linking his shadow to that of his comrades and using their shadows to also contribute to the animals he creates. When the animals are destroyed they appear to melt into the ground and the shadows that were used find their ways back to their owners.

This technique gives Hikaru the ability to split his shadow into pieces, making it capable of multiple extensions in multiple directions however; the drawback of this technique is that the surface area of the shadows is significantly decreased and means that their extension abilities suffer.

A strange Fuuin jutsu which allows Hikaru to place seals on surfaces and then use these seals to his advantage. They appear as simple black dots but when used in conjunction with a Nara's shadow techniques, they are deadly. By stretching ones shadow towards one of the dots/ seals, it seems to disappear. It can then re emerge from any other placed seal (for the seals are linked) without sacrificing it's ability to extend because it still technically has the same surface area, it has just been warped to a new location.

Hikaru's most cherished item on his person at all times is a small journal in which he writes all his poetry, story ideas and even draws his characters in. It has taken him years to compile some of the notes on his stories and the book holds a special significance because it was given to him by his grandfather. He will do anything in his power to protect it.

People deserve the best; they deserve kindness and respect. They have feelings and we should respect those feelings without question. Kindness will light the way.
Background:
Hikaru will always be describe as a sweet and pleasurable kid. He is polite and affectionate to everyone he comes into contact with even those whom apparently hate him and this has often rubbed off on everyone he has ever met. This came about by him living with his Grandfather who was an elder of the Nara clan and Hikaru's inspiration; without which Hikaru would not have turned to writing.
The reason Hikaru lived with his Grandfather was simple. His father was dead and his mother died of child birth. His grandfather from that point on wards swore to raise the lad with the utmost love and care. And he did. he taught Hikaru right from wrong, how to be kind and in the end wished the boy to join him as a Nara academic whom recorded the chronicles and medical recipes of their respected Nara generation. It was taxing work but someone in the clan had to update the chronicles and no one wished this responsibility for Hikaru more then his grandfather. However, academically Hikaru was poor and creatively he excelled able to tell deep and imaginative stories from a young age and leaving manuscripts of half finished works all over the house. On his tenth birthday the young boy refused a present and instead presented his Grandfather with something; in his own way of saying thank you Hikaru had written a poetry anthology called The Bookman based entirely on his Grandfather and how great it was to have him in his life. The old man moved to tears cherished the boy deeply and accepted the boys dreams to become a writer after being proved by the boy himself that he was extremely talented.
Upon entering the Ninja Academy, Hikaru found it difficult to talk to others he had always been shy and with so many loud and boistrous people about him he felt severely out of place. It was nothing like his Grandfather's study or the worlds that existed in his books, bullies picked on him and teachers yelled at him for not staying on task suppressing his creative side to try and make him more academic. The accumulation of all his suppressed creative thinking came out in a writing test where Hikaru wrote a short story about how his teacher got turned into an apple and given to another teacher who in turn ate the teacher who'd been turned into an apple. Hikaru's Grandfather was summoned to the Academy and Hikaru was berated by his teachers not for his manners, for he was a pleasant student but for his refusal to engage in academics.
Hikaru thought his Grandfather would be very angry at him but instead the old man laughed and in that moment gave Hikaru a journal he'd been saving for his birthday. He said:
"I know you find it hard but you need to do it. Maybe you should write everything you want to write in this journal in order to get it out of your head and then try hard in your studies, hmmm?"
Hikaru took the journal and did as his Grandfather suggested, there was a huge improvement in his academics and he passed out of the Academy with flying colors. His Grandfather at his graduation gave him a pen and the boy was thrilled. His Grandfather then also taught him a few jutsu to help him in his future missions. Now, he waits to write his own story in Konoha's history books...
