character description ━ Matthew has a very tall and muscular body build, one that even body builders could be jealous of. Though is often perfectly masked by the clothes he wears, being perfectly tailored to his body.

powers ━ infinite resurrection: Or in other words, the curse of life. For Matthew, the term death is inevitable doesn't exist. Rather, the term life is inevitable. This is because, no matter the cause. Whether starvation, poison, decapitation, any means of death, is only temporary. As if a nap. Whenever Matthew dies, no matter the cause, even if his body is obliterated, he will return to life after 2 post cycles at most. The manner in which he can revive is after death, no matter what, after one post cycle he will wake up where he slept last. His former body will disappear, as if it decomposed rapidly, or he simply got up and left. The issue with his fashion is that it takes him away from a battle, if he happens to be in one.
The alternate method for resurrection is if he has a desire to stay in battle. If his body is still intact for the most part with the exception of having his body being blown to small pieces, is after two post cycles his body will naturally restore itself where it lies and allow him to wake up and join the battle once again.
It is notable that while these post cycles are happened, even though he's dead he's still completely aware of everything that's happening around his body. Since his soul does not have permission to leave unless its simply relocated to his last resting place. When his body relocates, if someone happens to watch, his body fades away as particles of light.
Matthew can in fact push this ability to respawn the very next post, however doing so will make him stay dead longer for the next time he dies. If he forces himself to wake up early, the next death where he wakes up requires two posts. If he forces himself to come back where he stands in the battle field, his next death to get up in battle will require four posts. He can chain this up to five times before having to pay the costs, which is waking up after five posts or respawning in battle after ten posts.
weapons ━ Revolver: Always in his possession is a black revolver, able to hold five bullets at once. He's always made a good note to carry spare bullets, and though this firearm is rarely used to harm people other than himself. To him, this revolver, a gift from a friend who died long ago, is his go to way to achieve 'temporary peace' or to get away from a situation. It is because of this revolver than he's died so many times, as well.
Firearm Arsenal: For his line of work, he is highly trained in the use of various firearms and explosives. Stashed somewhere secret, he has things such as personal hand grenades, smoke bombs, stun bombs, poison smoke bombs, plastic explosives, a means to make various trip traps out of them. Following, he has actual firearms such as a submachine gun and a semi-automatic sniper rifle. However, most of these are never carried on person when going through town. To get these, he'll have to spend a post dedicated to actually picking up the firearm and list it as on hand in his inventory.
Arsenal of Switch Blades: Always known to keep at least two on his person, Matthew has a specific jacket that he wears on occasion that is laced with 20 holders for switch blades. This is because he is an expert in both knife handling, and throwing. Often, if he's hired for a job, he'll cut down his opponent with these. Each blade is three inches long, and made with super hardened and sharpened steel. These knives have been known to even cut through stone if used in rapid strikes, each one shaving a thin layer of rock from the stone. After the tenth slice, it is capable of cutting through rock.
Samurai Sword: While not often carried on him, unless s**t is about to go down, Matthew has an ancient sword that is back from his original days in the Ashikaga Era. This sword has been well kept, reforged, so that even hundreds of years later it is in top condition.. If not, even more superior to how it was before.
Cyanide: sometimes in his partial line of work, he has things to do and death to challenge. If he's ever happen to be cornered or caught, he prepares various methods of cyanide to get out quickly. One method, is a glass cyanide pill in the place of his back tooth. Tightly woven and reinforced, basic eating cannot break it. He is free to put it in or remove it whenever, but requires an incredibly powerful bite to break the glass so that it isn't released prematurely. Other means of cyanide can vary, but must at least be set up a post before hand of use unless its a basic pill or the tooth replacement.
Motorcycle: A means for transportation, only.
strengths ━ Knife handling: Matthew excels in knife handling and throwing. He's capable of wielding multiple at a time with rapid succession to not hit strong, but to hit rapidly to cut down an opponent.
Close Combat: Of course, knives will only do so much in combat. Given that he has no natural super power besides the ability to live once again, he's trained relentlessly in physical combat to give him peak physical skills. He's mastered various combat styles as well, specifically from asian culture.
Firearm Combat: He has a variety of firearm based knowledge, and can accurately aim and fire while on the move with various said firearms. As a skilled mercenary, this makes him an ideal candidate for jobs. He's even good at reading oncoming assaults, being able to predict aiming almost as well as he can aim. While there are plenty of firearms he doesn't know how to use, if handed to him he could figure out how to function it in no time flat.
Adaptable and Tactical Combatant: He's very cunning in combat, able to make plans on the fly if something was to occur. Once he's analyzed his opponent, he can predict moves and come up with plans to take them down. Along with this, he is quick to simply adapting to new things brought to the battle.
Swordsmanship: In his prime, Matthew, or Kazuko, was a powerful samurai with immense sword handling skills. He was one that would stand above the others, and cut down all who got in his way, even when vastly outnumbered. Over the years, due to lack of training, his skills have diminished. That doesn't change the fact that if he holds a sword in his hand, that he should be under estimate. He could still very well pierce dense armors, and cut thin metal. However, metal thicker than a few inches he would only leave a gash. That is, if he can keep the sword steady. [Read weaknesses]
Knowledge: He's a very chiseled man in experience, more so than likely anyone alive. He has almost limitless combat knowledge, and knows how to take a life with just about anything as well. Whether he learned it from fighting, or killing himself.
weaknesses ━ Super Power Combat: His power is to come back after death. That means he has no powers to actually use in combat, and has to use other means against super-powered entities. Which can get extremely rough depending each power, he has to be on both defensive and evasive.
Death Prone: Since he knows that he comes back after death, he gets more reckless in combat. He's not afraid to get cut down or hurt, and death isn't an obstacle. While this has an advantage, in life or death combat it makes him more likely to die.
Unsteady Hand: When handling a sword, while he is skilled and powerful, his hand trembles as if it weighs much more than it does. At his current state of being, he is unable to handle a sword without his hand trembling because of the blood he feels on his hands from killing someone dear to him back in his era. There is little hope to recover from this, unless he accepts the past and comes to a new resolve, but currently he cannot harness his sword potential to its fullest.

personality ━ Kazuko was once a good guy. Just enjoyed life, and enjoyed people when they came around. Now a days though, he's become cold and hardened by the world who continuously chewed him up and spit him out. Kazuko is the man that people often fear to encounter in the streets at night, even though he never goes out of his way to attack someone for no reason. If he stumbles on a matter of violence, he'll interfere and beat down the attacker. Not because he cares for the innocent, but knows what its like to be beaten by the world.
Kazuko hasn't found joy in life for years, and yearns for the end to come. He goes day by day, simply living. Maybe he'll try new things, if he can. In his mind set, he's simply a drifter that wanders. He'll talk, he'll socialize, but don't expect a connection. Such a trait of him that turns people off from talking to him. Simply.. He's not a people person, and he doesn't try to hide it.
biography ━ Back several centuries, Matthew went by the name Kazuko Ashikaga. Back in such an age, he was considered a powerful samurai that fought for the Ashikaga family. However, there were various uprisings during his life, given he was born near the end of the Ashikaga government. He fought along side a woman in particular, a rare female samurai that went by the name of Naoki. Something about Naoki was.. Different, though. As war began to wage, wherever Naoki went, people with abnormal powers and capabilities would appear. Many of them were either random civilians or of the Ashikaga Family, to help fight for the government. Eventually though, those who were rising against the Ashikaga family grew aware of the odd capabilities of Naoki.. Someone who acted as a powerhouse for the Ashikaga government. With this knowledge, they pursued both Naoki and Kazuko, as they functioned as a team together. They were both powerful samurai, and was able to fight side by side against hundreds of soldiers that were sent their way. Eventually though, they just wore them down. Naoki's sword was shattered, and Kazuko could no longer walk. Wounded and exhausted, the duo came to terms that they weren't going to survive the fight. Even though it brought dishonor, because they were not ordered to, they agreed to a suicide pack via seppuku using Kazuko's sword. Resolved, Kazuko took place in front with Naoki's arms around him, both of them holding the handle of the sword. Naoki's final words though.. Weren't something that Kazuko was expecting. "Thanks.. For being here with me.. I want to give you something.. The.. ability to live past this.." Kazuko didn't understand what that meant until it was too late though. With a swift motion, Naoki forced the sword through both of their abdomens as other soldiers arrived. The wounds, no matter what, were fatal. Bleeding out, Kazuko was in disbelief.. Naoki had done something to him, one of her tricks.. After all, she died with a smile across her lips.
Later, Kazuko woke up in the depths of night. Around him, corpses as far as the eye could see. Those that himself and Naoki had cut down before.. How was he alive though? There was a sharp pain in his chest.. Looking down, the sword was still embedded in his abdomen.. Naoki laid on the ground, sliding off the tip of the sword when he sat up. Pulling the blade from him, the pain was gone instantly.. Looking at his stomach, there was no wound. In fact, his legs had recovered as well.. As if his body had fully restored itself. He knew very well what Naoki's power was, to give power to others.. She must have done this to him.. Why couldn't she just let him die with her? If he couldn't die with her, then he knew what he had to do. He had to cut down those who hunted them. Kazuko went on the hunt, and eventually found the survivors of the group that had pursued them.. He was ready to cut them all down on the spot. When he went to swing his sword though, clashing blades, he noticed.. His hand was trembling. Shaking and unsteady, something wasn't right. It was rough, but he was still able to conquer the group. It wasn't without cost though, pushed to exhaustion once again with countless wounds.. Kazuko fell once again, something that wouldn't have happened if he could wield his sword correctly.
Waking once again, his wounds were gone. But he kept up this cycle. Over and over again, he went out of his way to hunt those who hunted him and Naoki, as well as stood against their government. This went on for countless years, but it became clear that it was all for naught. The uprising was impossible to fight off himself, and he was forced to give up. This last time he died, he chose to stay dead to the family that he served. He had decided that it wasn't worth it, knowing that the cycle would be endless in the world. So.. He vanished, changing his name, and cutting off all ties to everything that he knew.
The world was always changing around him, and though it was hard, he had to change with it. Unlike others who lived in this world, he couldn't just fade away. He tried, countless times and countless ways. He would start each life time as if he was someone new, with a new name. He would meet people, become their friends, but then inevitably have to disappear or watch them die.. As, he did not age nor die. After a few years with each person, he would either be judged by his seemingly inability to age, or some.. Accident would happen, resulting in that person's or his own death. Whenever he died, he would disappear. Just knowing that something would go wrong if he came back.. It wasn't until the 20th Century, that he met someone who was okay with his power. A true friend by the name of Matthew, who first hand witnessed Kazuko get murdered on the streets in the depths of night. Matthew, a bystander, tried so desperately to save Kazuko's life. But inevitably failed, due to the untimely arrival of the paramedics. It was the next day though, that Matthew saw Kazuko once again and nearly lost his mind.
Kazuko was dragged into explanation, and was expecting Matthew to either freak out or.. Just not believe him. But he did, for once in his life.. Someone actually believed Kazuko. At first, Matthew thought the power must have been amazing. Since you could do any stupid thing, die from it, and come back. Kazuko let Matthew live in that fantasy for a long time though, he didn't want to depress his new found friend. Matthew wasn't always blind to the negative effects of Kazuko's powers, however. Because Matthew was someone with strong interest in firearms, and practiced with a high standard revolver nearly daily. Kazuko always watched in interest, but it was just practice. Matthew wasn't training to kill anyone, instead just to have the skill. When the two of them were returning to Matthew's apartment one night, they were met by a familiar face. The same man who had murdered Kazuko before, ready to rob them and do it again. They were taken by surprise, and Kazuko was grabbed and held with a gun to his temple. Kazuko tried to convince Matthew to run, that it'd be alright. Especially since his friend knew of his power, but Matthew refused. The first time they met, Kazuko died to this man.. Matthew didn't want this man to take more lives, even if Kazuko had infinite. With his revolver, he shot at the man.. His hand though, was shaken in fear. Never had he thought he'd kill someone, and.. To make matters worse, never had he thought he'd kill his friend. The criminal released Kazuko just in time to evade the bullet, forcing Kazuko to take the shot in his chest. Matthew wouldn't let him die again, he just couldn't! Desperately, just like the first time they met, he worked to keep his friend alive. He knew that his friend would be fine in the end, but.. The fact that he's the one who hurt his friend, who was taking his life.. He couldn't bare it.
This time, they were fortunate. For once, Kazuko's life had been spared when the paramedics arrived. He was only unconscious, but still breathing. Kazuko was also out of the hospital in no time because of his power.. Matthew felt horrible for what happened, and realised now that even if Kazuko could come back after death.. That didn't change the fact that Kazuko still died, and that.. Just wasn't right. Matthew could only think of one thing to do to ask for Kazuko's forgiveness, and that was giving him the revolver that he shot him with.. After what happened, Matthew no longer wanted to handle a gun. Ever.
Life was.. Rather easy after that. Matthew and Kazuko were close friends, and spent a lot of time together. The two of them never found love or families, but, they were still content just to live. Kazuko's death's per year dropped to 0 for the next sixty years, at least for the most part, until the day he sat at Matthew's death bed. Matthew's body deteriorated a bit early, but still lived a long life of nearly ninety years. Matthew was able to die with a smile, with Kazuko by his bed for support. Simply.. So thankful to have such a man be his friend and stay by him, even after almost killing him. That night though.. Kazuko lost it. Over and over again that night, he kept pushing his resurrection ability to its fullest. This is where he learned he can make himself come back at any time, rapidly killing and reviving himself because he just wanted to be dead. He was tired of living full lives, while those he cared for died around him. This time, he was truly accepted, never murdered or his friend being murdered or suffering an accident. This time.. He just outlived him. He couldn't stand it, not anymore. That night, the night of 100 deaths, he went to a tattoo parlor and got the date tattoo'd over his heart. The person questioned the meaning of the tattoo, where Kazuko simply responded. "Today's the last day I bother to care." It took one more hit, and oddly enough.. Kazuko didn't wake up.
Pushing his powers to its limits, he was forced into a state of limbo for a years time. For the longest time, he stayed dead and never awoke. It was both relieving and scary. It wasn't lasting though. What Kazuko thought was peace, inevitably came to an end.. Though afterwards, he was a changed man. He shoved people out, and only focused on one thing: living. Living however he needed.. To fit with society, and as a man who couldn't die.. He began doing various odd jobs, including hired arms where his life would be on the line. All the jobs paid well, and he had nothing to lose. To do these, he spent years training in the use of various firearms.. Basically, formed himself into the perfect mercenary by the time work came. In every day life, he simply wandered. He might talk, but he just drifted, and no one felt a drive enough to try and pull him back to reality.
The S.H.R. system meant nothing to him, since he always lived under false identities because of how his power worked. Never had he registered, nor planned to be. Now a days, whether or not he has a false identity made, he goes by the name of Matthew Garrison. Not that anyone needed to know his real name, simply.. A name he adopted from the last person he lived with.
