So I managed to whip out the next part of the story pretty quickly. I hope you all enjoy the introduction of our main character.
Weeks of fighting had boiled down to her becoming tired, but the contract was finally up and the woman could relax. While in the camp she had overheard a few of the elves she fought alongside talking about a little place in the woods to the west, where the fire was always roaring in the fire place and the drinks never seemed to stop coming. Since she as free now she decided to go check it out. "To the west, a couple miles before Crescent lake. It's in a clearing, you'll know it when you see it." Those were the exact words that one of the men had told her when she asked how to get there. After consulting the map she had headed in the direction of Crescent Lake. It had taken her about an hour of travel to reach the woods in question. But once she was within the cover of the tall trees it seemed like it only took a few minutes to get see the smoke from the chimney in the distance. She felt relieved that she had found the way. She pulled her hood up over her forehead and tightened the cloak around her to cut out the chill of the coming night. After a little while longer she entered the clearing and there it was, The Silver Rose Tavern and Inn. Simply standing near it she could feel the warmth from inside. The wind started to cut into her and she hurried to the door, stepping inside and closing it behind her. As she closed the door the woman dropped her hood, revealing short teal hair that brushed against her neck. Her bright blue eyes glanced around, taking in how large the building seemed inside and how busy it was inside the warm tavern. There were few open seats at any of the tables, and a small crowd gathered and talked beside the fire. Across from the door was the bar, where similar to the fire was fairly crowded, but the woman did spot an open chair beside a dark elf man with pale blue skin and messy black and white hair. It was the only open spot, and at least they were all on the same side of this war. Removing her cloak she moved to the open stool, draping her cloak over the back of it before sitting down. Within a short few seconds the woman at the bar, likely the bar keep, was before her. "Welcome, what can I get you?" The other woman asked with a bright smile. She was also a dark elf, her skin a darker blue than the man she sat beside. She wore her black hair short, stopping at her jaw line. Her outfit was simple, a black and white shirt with gold buttons and a short skirt with a pair of knee high boots. "Some whiskey please. I could use something hard after these past few weeks." Her own voice was calm, relaxed and smooth as she spoke to the bar keep, who nodded and started to pour her a glass. "and please leave the bottle, I will pay for the whole thing." The man she sat beside glanced at her with intrigue as the barkeep placed her whiskey in front of her and she handed over the correct amount of gold. He raised his glass in a motion resembling a toast. "To the end of the war my friend, may we be victorious." She nodded and returned the gesture, then both took a drink. Afterward they continued to talk; about the war, where they had each been fighting, their friends and family. The two spoke for several hours, loosing track of time and simply enjoying the company. After a while more the man stood to leave and gave a small wave to the teal haired girl. Before any words could be said he left, without either one knowing the other's name. After a while the building had quieted, many people either having left, or had fallen asleep where they were. The silence was finally enough to lull the teal haired woman to sleep. The next morning she woke and glanced around. Once more it was fairly empty, most of the patrons must have gone back to the fighting. The barkeep was there though, so she flagged her down. "By chance do you have any food? I'm not picky, I just need something to eat." The barkeep nodded and disappeared into the back, returning with a bowl of oatmeal and some toast. "It isn't much, but it's what we've got right now. It should fill you up Miss...?" she trailed off, indicating she was looking for a name to call the teal haired woman by. "Josephina, but everyone calls me Fear." She responded, placing a few gold pieces on the bar. "Can I get some orange juice too please?" The dark elf woman nodded with a smile. "Of course, Miss Fear, and feel free to take your time. And once you are done in the field feel free to come visit us here again." she poured a glass of orange juice and set it beside Fear's meal then wondered away to do some cleaning.
Fear nodded thankfully to the barkeep before she walked away. As she ate her mind was filled with thoughts, but not one of them would prevent her from returning to the tavern after her next contract. As soon as she was done with her meal she stood and pulled her cloak on. Fear gave a small wave of farewell to the barkeep and was out the door, on her way to another battle and another contract.
