Fighting back her sobs for a few seconds longer, Joie was able to regain herself, even if she couldn't stop the tears that fell. She couldn't let herself fall apart. Part of her feared she was asleep, that she would be woken up in only a short time, but another part of her realized that there was little chance for it to be a dream.
Standing upright she turned to face him, steeling her emotions as best as she could. She was still shaking, but she had managed to more or less quell her tears. Taking a deep yet shaky breath, she reached out and gently touching his arm.
"This isn't a dream..." She spoke more to herself than him, her voice quiet as if she were processing the information. A small sob found its way through her as she threw her arms around his torso. She pressed her cheek against his shoulder, taking more shaky breaths as she tried to keep herself from crying again.
Clenching her eyes shut to fight back the stinging tears, she buried her face against his neck. "I... I thought you were dead.... Tobias.... Where have you been... I've been worried sick about you..." Joie didn't want to let go, as if afraid that he would disappear into the very air if she did.
