Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross are the same story, but they are timelines split by one extremely important factor that causes a multitude of changes.
That important factor is Crono.
Crono is resurrected by the end of Trigger = Chrono Cross
Crono is dead by the end of Trigger= Radical Dreamers
I'll go over the changes that causes in both timelines, but for now it's just important to know. Crono's life or death changes so many things in these two games that this post would go on for ages covering it all so I'll cover it in pieces.
A further assertion is that:
Radical Dreamers = By the end, Crono, Marle and Lucca are all dead. Of the main party in Trigger, only Magus is alive under the alias of Magil and even his situation is highly unstable.
Chrono Cross = There is a very high possibility that Crono, Marle and Lucca are all still alive. Magus is also alive, but as the amnesiac magician 'Guile'.

The Chrono Trigger/Cross/Radical Dreamers Connection
Be forewarned, some of this is speculation, but based as much as possible on in-game dialogue and other facts.
