Ch. 6 - Falling
Lee was walking up to his locker with his backpack slung over his shoulder and his helmet under an arm. When he reached locker 4763, he began to put in the combination.

"Hey Lee!" said a small feminine voice. Lee turned his head to the right and smiled upon seeing a cinnamon haired girl with seafoam eyes and a small smile walking towards him. "Hey Kari. What's up?" Lee asked as he grabbed his english book.

"Nothing much," Kari responded as Lee placed his helmet in his locker and shut it. "How are you?" Kari asked as she walked to class with Lee.

"I'm okay." Lee replied, finishing with, "Hey Sakura!"

Sakura walked up to Lee, gave him a hug, and said, "Hey Lee! Hey Kari!" Kari smiled and returned the hello. "Lee, my dad's going to give me a ride home, so you'll have to go home alone today," Sakura mentioned.

"It's okay. I need to go home early anyways. I'm going on a camping trip today anyways. I'm coming back in a week," Lee said as he shrugged.

Kari came out from behind Sakura and asked, "Could you give me a ride home? I have a doctor's appointment and I don't have my car here."

Lee nodded and responded, "Sure just be in front of the school at noon." He then smiled and walked to his class.

LATER THAT DAY......

Kari stood at the front of the school waiting for Lee to show up. "God damn it Lee. Where are you?" Kari mumbled to her self.

"Here I am," Lee said running up to her. "Sorry I'm late. I had to find my spare helmet. Let's go," Lee said handing her the second black helmet. As they approached the Ducati motorcycle, a chilling breeze went by. Lee wasn't affected by it seeing as how he was wearing a black leather jacket. Kari on the other hand began to shiver as the breeze began to chill her skin. Noticing this Lee took off the jacket and held it out to her saying, "Here. You need it more than I do."

Kari just looked at Lee and asked, "You sure?"

Lee nodded. Kari took the jacket and put it on. The outside leather was cold, but the inside was warm and smelled of some cologne that Kari loved. She then put on the helmet and ran to Lee's motorcycle where he was already sitting on it with the engine running. As soon as she sat behind Lee, she wrapped her arms around his waist. Lee turned his head around to look at her. Luckily she was wearing the helmet, otherwise Lee would have seen her blushing, as she said, "For safety." Lee then turned around, pulled back out of the parking lot, and drove off.

When they reached Kari's house, Lee helped her off the motorcycle and walked her to the front door. Kari unlocked the front door and then turned towards Lee who had taken off his helmet. Kari took off her helmet and as she did Lee saw her eyes shine like jewels as the sunlight reflected off of them.

"Kari..." Lee said in a soft voice.

"Yes?" Kari responded.

"Your eyes... they shine like jade," as he took a step closer to her by instinct.

Kari took a step as well, placed her hand over his heart. "Your eyes are beautiful and dark, but there is a bright light under that veil of darkness," Kari said and leaned against Lee. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Lee shut his eyes as he motioned his lips towards hers.

TWO WEEKS LATER....

Sakura was sitting in her Algebra 2 class reviewing her notes for a test that her new math teacher, Mrs. Graham, was going to give. "Where's Lee?" She asked herself. "He's supposed to be back by now and with Kari in the hospital because of her appendicitus surgery, there's no one to talk to. More importantly, there's no one here to help explain this to me!" Sakura said to herself again.

"Sakura! Sakura!" a chestnut haired girl yelled as she came in running. Sakura turned around and asked, "What is it Jerry?"

Jerry was panting and said, "It's....Lee."

Sakura began to get worried and asked, "What about Lee? Is he okay?"

Jerry was panting a little less, " He's.....He's...."

Sakura grabbed her shoulders and shook her screaming, " What is it?! Tell me!"

Jerry took a deep breath and said, "He's in the hospital. He's in critical condition."

Sakura let go of her shoulders, brought her hands to cover her mouth, and tears began to appear. Sakura then ran out of the room and Jerry walked out the door and yelled, " Sakura! He's at St. White's Hospital!" Sakura heard this and began to run out of the school. She knew that the hospital was on the other side of the city, but she didn't care. She ran as fast as she could, not giving her legs a break. One of the closest people to her might die and she wanted to see how badly injured he was.

She finally reached the entrance of the hospital and ran through the door to the receptionist. "Where's Lee Slither's room?" she asked the lady behind the desk.

She looked surprised and asked Sakura, " You mean the young man who is in critical condition?"

Sakura yelled, "Yes!"

The receptionist said, "Room 117. Second floor. At the end of the corridor to your right if you go up the stairs." Sakura dashed off and up the stairs to Lee's room. As she ran down the corridor the lady mentioned and reached room 117.

When she opened the door and looked in, her eyes began to well up with tears as she saw Lee's mangled body hooked up to machines. His body wrapped up in bandages and casts that seemed to have some old blood on it.

"What? What could have done this to you?" Sakura asked herself as she slid down the wall that was the only thing holding her up.
