Angels Without Wings

Hey you
Wipe off your smile of malice
I've had enough today
Put your fists down
Because I don't know how much more I can take

You may laugh
You may shrug
But inside you're just as cold
As the stones you throw
And that strips everything away
So we're both in rags

Humanity is fading
Replaced with animalistic intent
Hands turn to claws
Teeth to fangs
Words into snarls that shred
Every aspect of security

Hope turns into a dull light
Locked inside a desolate chamber
Of every broken child
Because the adults have gone too far

We sing
Because you cannot destroy us
We are already gone
And we sing
Because your wings are broken
And we have none

After every fire
New life forms
And after every cut
There lies a scar
But your skin is too thick
And your mind too weak
To realize just how high
No wings can take us
For we have all the things you lack

Kindness
Compassion
Honesty
Loyalty
Integrity
Sympathy
Morality
Humanity

So take your aim
And throw your barbs
As we stand
Arm in arm
And as we fly

We will be there
