Little Girl Lost
It’s been so long since I’ve set foot in this little town. So long, that I am lost with the changes made. It is a smaller town, but I remember it when it was one hundred people, if that. Now it ranges far over the six thousand mark. Exactly how long has it been since I’ve been here you ask? It has to be about one hundred years.
And how old am I you ask? Seven hundred years old, give or take a couple of centuries. After the first two hundred, we tend to lose track. What am I you ask? Well isn’t it obvious? Oh you thought it was just make up and a costume? What about the teeth? Oh yeah they have come along way with the “false” vampire teeth haven’t they?
You’re laughing now. Laughing at me. Well I’d laugh too. In fact I laugh with you. Ridiculous. A vampire? Really? Here? But I’m not joking! I looked at you, so safe in your assumption that you know it all. I looked at you, looking at me, laughing at the “poor girl” who thinks she is a vampire.
You think you are so smart. So safe. You’re a big boy aren’t you? Football player and everything. Out for a bit of fun, walking the streets after dark. Felling like getting some air. You came across me thinking I looked out of place – kind of lost.
I knew what you were thinking as soon as I looked into your All-American blue eyes. Knew exactly what you were thinking when you introduced yourself and asked if you could help me. So easy. So very, very easy. I read you like a book.
When I told you I was looking for someone and that I thought they lived near a park, your eyes lit up although I told you I didn’t know the name. That’s because the person I named died fifty years ago. It was so easy to trick you into believing you were dealing with a seventeen year old girl with a few marbles missing. Sp easy, you told me
