little blue book
ok this is more of a dumping ground for all of my poems and thoughts (more poems than thoughts) so please enjoy!!!
Morning
Bleary eyed I wake
As the sun hangs half-mast
It's gentle rays fall like teardrops
And land as a dewy mist
Coating my sneakers
As I walk along
I'm drawn from the porch
By the call of the birds
Who have gathered together
Brother to sister
Mother to child
Bending the bows with their weight
As a lonely funeral prayer
Calling out words of rememberance
Throwing themselves to the ground
And it's here even the cats take pause
and do not enter
In a voilent and haunting dance
I do not understand
I am drawn to share in their sorrow
And throw myself dowm to the dirt
And weep with them
Giant sobbing tears
Of remembrance
And denial
In the distance a rooster crows
And I've never realized how sad his song is
Who, What do they mourn?
My mother walks up behind me
And silence falls
She reaches down gently
and our fingers twine
"Good Morning"
