"Wait a moment... the graveyard is what?" Arena snapped back to reality. He couldn't have actually said glowing, could he? That would be preposterous!
"It is glowing, Mistress." Yep, he said glowing. That was an unnerving thought. What could possibly make a graveyard glow. "Would you prefer to stay here while I investigated, Mistress?"
Arena shook her head. Something told her this was better explored with a partner, if at all. "Let us go together, please." And indeed they did leave, gathering what possessions and weapons they had.
It was always a marvel to see Guardian fit his massive bulk through any doorway designed for a human. He seemed to almost shrink completely as he edged through, then grew back to his normal size. It was almost unnerving. As soon as they were out, Guardian strapped his massive tower shield to his equally massive harm, hefted his warhammer, holding it in a defensive position, and started moving in loping, uniform strides. Arena slipped into the shadows, readying several spiky and likely poisoned implements of bloodletting.
