They both reached the graveyard about the same time. It was massive, flat, and glowing with an eerie green light. Was this normal? Arena thought to herself as she looked about. It was fenced off. Tall, wrought iron bars protruded from the ground, bound together with heavy steel. Eventually, they found the gate. It was ten feet tall, two massive doors looking much like the fence, but taller. They were chained together, locked with a bulky lock. Arena surveyed it, producing a pair of what seemed to be wires, pushing them in the lock and slowly working at it. Guardian looked about. "Mistress, does it not seem abnormal to you that a graveyard would be protected so well?" Indeed, he was looking at the posts of the fence, seeing small symbols engraved thereupon. "The fence is warded."
Arena looked up. "You're ki--" Right, he doesn't understand humor. "That is odd... The inhabitants must be rich." She continued picking the lock. Still, somehow, it didn't open. She pulled out, frustrated, and began looking over the lock.
"May I try, Mistress?" Guardian asked her, standing behind her. It was an odd request, but Arena allowed it. They had all night. She moved away, extending the picks. He shook his metallic head. "That will be unnecessary, Mistress." He hefted his warhammer, and brought it down hard on the lock, smashing it to bits. The chains fell, and then the gates slowly opened.
"Effective..." Arena mused.
