"We all knew one thing, and one thing only..you changed..."
"It has already been 3 months since he left, yet I can't help but feel he's still here..." a teenage girl said while sitting at her desk with her head resting on her arms, a face of sadness revealing to everyone. Two friends at her side looked at each other and one of them rolled their eyes and crossed their arms. "Seriously Elly! Are you going to mope around just because a friend near and dear to you has gone away for a half of the year or what?!" the one girl said in an annoyed voice as she stood up. Saying this did not help. Elly started to get tears in her eyes and then She hid her face from her friends. "Way to go Steph! Now you made her even more depressed!" the other girl, Mandy, said with her hands now on her hips. Steph turned around and threw up her arms in disgust, "whatever..." she said and left the room. Mandy turned to Elly and had a gentle smile on her face "don't worry. He'll be back sooner then you think,” she said, though she knew it wasn't helping. Elly sighed heavily and when she did, the bell rang to be let out of school. She sluggishly got her purse and books, walked to her locker, went out to her car, and drove home.
Arriving home, Elly went straight to the dishwasher and emptied it since it was her afternoon chore. After that, she slumped down at the computer. She hastily got onto her blog and checked for any new ones from her friend, Milo, who was at this moment in Australia. Elly missed him terribly and from the sound of his latest blogs, he was ready to come home. Elly sighed heavily again and got off the chair and stretched her arms up. She had nothing to occupy her and not being occupied, she would think about Milo again. Lurking around the kitchen for something to eat, she remembered that her mother said she would make chicken when’s she got home. Now Elly opened all the cupboards to see what there was, perhaps write down some of the things they needed later. She found the last box of cheesecake mix in the last cupboard and thought it a great idea to make that instead of doing nothing.
Before starting on the cake, Elly wrote down some mix on the shopping list and then got her apron with stars on it. She immediately got to work on it; mixing the milk and ingredients as told on the back of the package. Before she knew it, the cheesecake was ready to be chilled and just as she was putting it into the refrigerator to chill, her mother came home. Elly was in a bit higher of spirits at this point and greeted her mom. "Hey mom, how was your day?" she asked closing the fridge door. "Oh, boring yet, the money is still there so I can't do much about it" Mrs. Meairna said and put her briefcase on the table. She looked at the box of mix and the bowls that were dirty and turned to Elly. "Jeez Ell, can't you clean up a little?" Mrs. Meairna said with annoyance in her voice. There was hardly a mess there and Elly didn't have any time to clean it up yet, but arguing with her mother was useless. "I guess I can't..." Elly responded when her mom was out of hearing range and she rolled her eyes.
It was typical for her mom to say those things to her, considering Elly wasn't the cleanest person when it comes to food, yet she does clean up, unlike her lazy brother Leon. She was happy she didn't have to put up with his mouth today because he was at work and hopefully by the he came home, she was in her room, or out of the house. Elly finished cleaning up and set the table for when her mother made chicken and Elly went back to the computer to check for anything new. She had a message from a friend in Florida, but no new blogs. Elly answered the message and then got up to go to her room. Elly's room was upstairs where the attic was to be, but it was too large for it to be one, and not creepy enough either. Her walls where painted blue with yellow stars on them. There were so many different varieties of colors and things in Elly's room that one could not tell what kind of person she was just be rifling through her things.
Elly went over to a bowl shaped chair and set her purse down in it before going over to her stereo and turning it on to a local radio station. She then stood in the middle of her room with her hands on her hips and looked around for something to do again. She saw her cell phone in a little stand on her dresser and didn't even realize that she had forgotten it. She checked the messages on it and saw one from Steph saying she was sorry that she said what she did. Elly texted her back with a 'No it was my fault. I need to learn to suck it up' and sent it to her friend. Elly put the phone back in its stand and sat on her bed, pulling out a tablet and writing a few things she needed on it, like deodorant and some gum. It was hard to think of things randomly and from looking at her room, Elly couldn't tell what was good or bad and what was needed or not.
"GAH! There’s nothing to do!!!" Elly said out loud randomly with her hands on her head and she fell back onto her bed. She stared at the ceiling and huffed out some air. The door down stairs could be heard from Elly's room and the door opened and closed. Elly figured it was either her dad or her brother, but it was too early for her brother to be home so her best bet was her dad. And sure enough, the voice was deep and troubled below her. Mr. Meairna now was ranting about the day and how people were, in his eyes, nincompoops. Elly rolled her eyes at it and propped herself up. Out of her family members, she disliked her father the most. Her brother was next in line, but only because he felt that since she was younger than him, he had the right to aggravate and tease her.
She knew she had better go downstairs before her dad yelled up for her to come down and help with supper. Acting like she was doing something like preparing dinner, she got another apron and went down stairs, her father supposing she was ok...for now. Elly helped her mother make supper by making some noodles and sauce to go with the chicken. As they put the meal onto the table, Leon walked in and threw his lunch bag onto Elly's side of the table, making her put it away. She got her father and brother their drinks and some other condiments out of the fridge and then sat down to eat.
"How was your day, hun?" Mrs. Meairna asked Leon before biting into her chicken. Normally Leon came home and when asked this, either complained with a 'why do you care?!' or did not respond at all. But today he actually didn't seem aggravated by the frequently asked question. "It was alright...one of the nice guys was promoted to head designer today. I'd rather him be there then Colby" Leon said, waiting before he ate some noodles in sauce. "Remember what I told you. Nice people are great to talk to but they are weak so always look out for opportunities to surpass them" Mr. Meairna said and then continued his series of coughs from the herbs in the chicken. Elly was done with her supper first, the only one infact, that finishes before her own family and even friends. "I don't want to see you on the computer at all tonight, you hear me?" Mr. Meairna called out as Elly went to walk back up to her room. She replied with a, "okay dad" and proceeded. Arriving upstairs, Elly flopped onto her bed and checked her cell phone. There was a text message from Mandy, wondering what she was up to. Too lazy to want to text back, Elly called her up. "I'm not doing anything, like usual" she said to Mandy after confirming she had received Mandy's message to her.
"I was wondering if you wanted to do something tonight. I don't have any money so we can't go anywhere pricey" Mandy said with a bit of a weary voice. Elly told her that it was fine that they didn't do anything that involved money since Elly didn't have any either and she did not like to always spend it. "How about we go to the park, maybe talk a bit or find people to hang with, I’ll come pick you up..." Mandy offered and Elly thought that it was a great idea. Mandy picked Elly up after asking Leon to tell their parents that she was out with Mandy, a girl her parents both liked. They arrived at the park and not many people were there at first but within a half an hour, there were a good amount of people. Elly and Mandy talked about Milo for a little bit, Mandy reassuring Elly that he would be back in no time. Elly still felt the same, but was assured that time would fly by soon enough. Mandy was always Elly’s best friend. They laughed at a lot of inside jokes and they did everything together. Elly would sometimes refer to Mandy as a sister she never, but wished, she had.
Both of the girls saw a group of people from school with a few other people that they didn't know and headed towards them. "Hey, it's Elly and Mandy, guys" one of the girls said and walked over to them with a smile. This was Erika, a gothic girl who was really nice, but was also really creative and smart. She seemed to always be the cool person and her hair was a different color every week. This week it was black with orange stripes in it. "These are my friends from Carl’s school" Erika said and ushered to four people by Carl, Erika's boyfriend. Two of them were kicking each other and fighting over who won what while the other two, a boy and a girl, were holding hands and hugging. "This is Sammy and Tim, those two are George and Michael; they're twins, and this one is Diz" Erika said and pointed to a boy slightly behind Carl who was on his cell phone. "Hey" the twins said at the same time after finishing their little fight. Carl shook his head at their 'twinliness' as he called it and they both smiled ruefully. George and Michael eventually stopped fighting and greeted Elly and Mandy separately, and then switched back to fighting again. Sammy and Tim waved and smiled and Diz remained on his cell phone. "So you guys go to school together?" Tim asked after they talked a while. "Yeah we've known each other since about 6th grade" Erika responded and hugged Elly and Mandy. "Yeah, Erika and I moved here around the middle of 6th grade, which was really weird and soon after we became good friends with Elly here" Mandy said and Elly smiled. "How long have you been here?" Sammy asked Elly. "I've lived here all my life, and in the same house too,” Elly said and too much of her surprise, they were shocked. "You don't seem like the talkative type, as though you just moved here,” George said, inspecting Elly. "Yeah sorry if I seem out of it today...I was just thinking about my friend Milo, who is an exchange student" Elly said smiling halfheartedly. Everyone seemed to understand in some way what she was feeling and they all tried to cheer her up. Elly was happy that they cared like that and she made sure not too mention or look depressed that much.
After a while, they decided to walk to the nearest coffee and doughnut hut to get something warm to eat and drink. Erika and Carl held hands and talked to Tim and Sammy who were holding hands. George and Michael were entertaining Mandy with their weird and enthusiastic selves while Elly and Diz walked together. They walked a little in silence, but Elly couldn't really keep quiet. "So I take it you are in the same grade as your friends?" Elly asked, looking over at Diz to see how he reacted. "Yes, we are all seniors this year" was all he said as they walked. Elly felt a bit offended, but she didn't like to let people see that so she kept on asking questions. Soon it lead up to, 'why are you so quiet?" and Diz couldn't really answer that. "It's ok...I'm not really talking much either...well, less than usual anyways" Elly said in response to Diz smiling a bit at her 'I’m not talking much...' statement.
It wasn't long before they reached the Doughnut Hut and they got their food, Carl paying for Mandy's as well as Erika's hot chocolate. "Do you want anything?" Diz asked Elly when they got there. "Oh, no thank you. You can get something though" she responded and smiled then turned to sit with everyone. Diz came back with two hot chocolates and gave one to Elly. She was about to protest about it, but Diz put up a hand to silence her. "It wasn't any trouble" he told her and smiled, handing Elly hers. She thanked him and told him that she would pay him back when she got the chance to. They all sat at a table and joked around about their schools and the people in them. George and Michael did impressions and told jokes, making them all, especially Mandy and Elly, howl with laughter. Elly checked the time and it was getting close to 8:00 when Erika and Carl had to leave. With them gone and phone numbers exchanged, everyone started splitting up. It wasn't until later that Diz realized that Carl was his ride. "Oh don't worry about it. I'll take you home. I'm taking Elly home too so it's no problem" Mandy offered and Diz gladly accepted.
As they rode to Diz's house, they all talked about things that went on that impacted both schools. "Yeah that power chase was rather odd" Mandy said to Diz after he told her his thoughts on the process. "I wouldn't mind having powers to help people,” Elly said and Mandy agreed that Elly having powers would be a good thing. Diz seemed to think so too, for himself and Elly. They let Diz out and Elly took his seat in the front. As he got up to leave and as Elly got up too, he bent down and kissed her cheek then winked at her. Elly blushed but acted casual and sat in front with Mandy and they went to her house.
They were about halfway to Elly's house when Mandy had a big smile on her face. Elly glanced over, but immediately turned to look out the window and smiled shyly to herself. "So.... what was that all about?" Mandy asked the smile in her voice was not hidden at all. "that's what I'd like to know!" Elly said flailing her arms around, making Mandy laugh. "He must like you then. It's kind of exciting too...he's really cute" Mandy told her and nudged Elly's arm. "Well what about you and Michael, or maybe it's George..." Elly inquired, looking at her friend. "Oh that was George. I like him; he makes me laugh, yet he can be serious and is pleasing to listen to. He reminds me of you a lot..." she said with a smile and turned onto the street Elly lived on. Elly laughed out loud and snorted an accident. "Wow, Mandy...that's a little creepy there" she said and laughed harder when Mandy winked and nudged her arm playfully. "I don't mean it like that...it's just, you two have similar personalities and it's just...awesome!" she busted out with the awesome since she didn't know what word to use.
Elly invited Mandy into her house and when they both entered the living room, Mr. Meairna was there. "And where have you been?" he asked crossly, folding his arms and looking up at Elly. "I went to the park with Mandy and we hung out with some friends,” Elly said calmly. "And when did you plan on telling any of us this?" Mr. Meairna asked with a bad mood tone in his voice. "I told Leon to tell you that I was hanging out with Mandy...I don't know why he didn't tell you" Elly told her father, her calmness breaking a little bit. Mr. Meairna didn't say anything, but shook his head and left the room. "Ugh I hate that! I tell Leon to tell my family where I went, and of course he forgot to!" Elly said finally snapping. "Your dad should know that by now, or at least trust you enough to not have you tell everyone where you have gone" Mandy added, sitting in the chair Mr. Meairna was in.
The rest of the time, until about 10:00, Elly and Mandy joked and talked about different things. When Elly's mother came home from shopping, she gave them both some ice cream and talked to Mandy. Mandy had to hurry home around 11 so she could get rested up for school the next day. Elly took her shower and went up to her room to go to bed when she got a text message from Carl. "Thank your friend for taking Diz home". Elly assured him that Mandy didn't mind and that it was no problem. Carl sent back a message saying that she got along with Diz quite well and should hangout more often. Elly sat on her bed staring at the phone with a blushing smile on her face. "I'd like that" Elly sent back and added that she was going to bed.
the next day Elly woke up refreshed, but slightly tired due to her eventful night. she wasn't looking forwards to missing Milo though, and Steph wouldn't let her forget about him for using his name was the only means of getting it past Elly. Sighing as she got off the bus and through her purse over her shoulders, Elly made her way to the cafeteria to get some breakfast because her stupid brother forgot to make her some...typical. After eating a muffin and drinking down some orange juice, she met up with Mandy by the cafeteria entrance and they both walked up to their lockers, which were in the general area of their classes. "We need to hangout with them more often" Mandy said suddenly when arriving at Elly's locker which had papers sticking out because she put the book in the wrong way. "yeah I was thinking the same thing last night. It was really fun" she responded, picking up the nusance of papers on the floor and interior of her dreadful locker of doom. As soon as Elly was done they went to their homerooms and talked about a teacher named Mr. Anderson who liked to give homework at the worst possible moments, even though he was a teacher everyone loved.
"I can't wait to get this project done!" Mandy said exhaustedly when they got to Mr. Anderson's class and finished up for the day. "I still need to start mine yet. I'm running out of supplies too. I think i'll go to the store and get some tonight. Want to come with me?" Elly offered, stretching her arms up and standing. "Sorry I have work tonight, but i'll come assist you after" she promised, raising up with her to go wait at the door for the bell. "no, don't worry about it. I'll get it done soon" Elly vouched and laughed at her procastination and how it sucked. Mandy and Elly then went down to the cafeteria and bought their lunches, which consisted of nachos for Elly and a salad for Mandy. they sat at a table with Steph, Erika, and a few girls that were underclassmen, one being Erika's sister. the lunch table was mainly a mix between laughter and deep conversations that seemed to only be known by one to three different people. after a while listening to Erika and her sister fight about a shirt that was ripped, Elly felt her cell phone vibrate. She wondered who it was, since the number was said to be listed, but the name wasn't on there. She recieved a text message saying, 'hey, how are you doing?' on it which Elly wasn't sure what to put. finally deciding she replied, 'Oh, im alright...who is this by the way' and almost right after that another said, 'this is Diz'. Elly slapped her head at her own stupidity, not understandinwhy she didn't think it was him in the first place. she quickly sent, 'oh! sorry I didn't program your name into my cell. ill do that now' and then she programed the name Diz to come up when he text her or called. another message was sent again saying 'ok, and my day was wonderful, but boring'. Elly was sorry to hear that and also texted it to him and went back to eating her nachos, which were almost gone.
Lunch was over soon after and all Elly had after that was gym and ceramics, two of her favorite classes to take. Today was a free day, since it was Friday, and Elly played four square with a few friends she had made there. Mandy wasn't in this class with Elly, but she was in the next one. Ceramics was one of the easiest classes and one of the funnest, especially with Elly and Mandy goofing around. the teacher really didn't mind, but sometimes had to remind them that they were in a school building. They would just laugh and start goofing off again, though still getting their work done. Elly was throwing a pot on the wheel and so was Mandy, who took a clay smoothered hand and touched Elly's nose with it. "hey!" Elly said trying to get the clay off, which only put more onto it. "look here" Mandy said and had her cell out with the camera ready. Elly posed her her hands formed in thumbs up and a smile on her face. "awesome" Mandy esclaimed and typed in something, "ok, sent" she said loud enough for Elly to hear. " what do you mean, sent?" Elly asked in a suspicion sensing tone. Mandy smiled ruefully, "sent it to Diz... he wanted a picture of you so I waited for a silly one" she said and stuck out her tongue. "Maaaandy!" Elly complained and reached out to touch her with a messy hand, but couldn't reach. Mandy just laughed and Elly thought of how stupid she probably looked to him. It was then time to clean up and both of them cleaned each others stations up. The bell rang soon after and Mandy drove Elly home after she got her materials of research on her project, which she had to get done.
Home was like the other day, coming in, going to the bathroom, putting dishes away, filling up the dishwasher, and then making dinner for everyone. the only change was Elly's father didn't yell at her, at least not yet anyways. her mother was pleased to find that she didn't have to make dinner tonight, but she did help by cleaning up papers and mail from the table so Elly could set it. That was one thing Elly hated; not only did she have to make dinner, but no one helped her with preparing for it. She was the only one that made the food, set the table, and cleaned up the dinner things after that. she really hated that but the last time she complained about it, she got yelled at by her father and shoved hard by her brother. Elly wasn't about to go back to that, though she knew it would reoccur eventually.
Her family came in to eat and there was a light conversation about a rape in the neighboring town. It was no surprise that rapes, burgularies, and other mishaps went on around them, but it would be one if it started happening in this town. The town they lived in was one that was hidden and secure from the troubles of the big city, which was only five minutes away. Many families moved here because of the crime rates and it was a peaceful environment away from chaos. The Meairna's came to the town a few years ago, the reason why is unknown to everyone and they don't see like a family to hide things either. The only thing known by a few of them, and only by occasions where Mr. Meairna yelled, was that Elly was not really related to anyone within that family. Elly was adopted when she was a baby because Mrs. Meairna couldn't have any more children, even though she wanted one. They went to the orphanage to find one, but couldn't seem to find the right child. They went into the city to one last adoption place and not a moment too soon. There wasn't much known about Elly, but there weren't any signs of diseases or anything wrong with her. The Meairna's took her in and loved her ever since, the only thing is that they never told Elly she was adopted.
They stopped the conversation and finished their dinner, Elly cleaning off the plates and putting them into the dishwasher and putting condements away and whipping the table off. "Hey mom, I need to use the car to go to the store to get things for my project" Elly informed her mother and she handed the keys to Elly. Elly thanked her and finished up the table and went to her room to go tothe store. Elly didn't have much money left and she needed to get a job to save up for college. But right now, the project was on her mind. She hopped into the car and made her way to the store. It wasn't a very big store, but it was good enough of a place to get materials for a little science project, which was only a poster.
when she arrived at the store, she took a gander around at all of the things they had. It wasn't really a store that stocked up on certain things all the time, but every so often they would have the newest make-up product or something of that caliber. As Elly was looking through the books that they had there, she felt something softly hit her hair. At first she didn't think much of it, but after and few thimes of feeling it, she turned around. She didn't see anything or anyone that would have touched her so she went back to doing what she was doing. suddenly, she turned around to catch what it was, without it even touching her, and saw a hand withdraw from the neighboring isle and head duck down as well. Curious as to who it was, Elly quickly ran to the isle and saw none other than Diz sprint to the one that Elly was just in. Elly laughed and tried to fake him out, but he was too fast for her. "hey Diz" she said, now out of breath from going from isle to isle, trying to get him. He stoped too and met up with Elly, hugging her in a friendly hug. "how are you?" he asked her, letting go of the hug. "I'm fine, I have a project that is due at the end of the week so i'm buying more materials for it today" Elly answered him in a polite, cute voice. She then asked him why he was at the store since he looked as though he just came back from a teaching seminar or something like that. "I needed to buy some milk and cookies. gotta have your essentials" Diz told her and a broad smile of humor placed itself on his face. Elly laughed and agreed that when you are in the mood for milk and cookies that you do need to go out and buy some. "So a science project, huh? Sounds fun enough, from what you told me" Diz said sarcastically and yawned while Elly smiled an punched diz playfully on the arm. "I'm not crazy about science or anything, but it has to get done" she told him and scouted out her things while Diz followed her with his package of cookies and gallon on milk.
Elly bought the poster board and the markers along with some construction paper and pipe-cleaners. Diz followed her around and talked to her about different things like the stupid assembly about drugs he had at his school and Elly agreed that they were old enough now to not have to endure that kind of punishment. Elly paided for her project material and also for a package of Sour Gummy Worms that she liked to eat when doing a creative project like this one. "oh hey, I was wondering what you were doing this weekend..." Diz stated, suddenly serious, though not quite for he was opening up his cookies and offering one to Elly and giving it to her and winking. "hmm, I didn't have anything planned...why?" she wondered, tilting her head to the side. Diz blushed a bit, thought not so easily noticed by Elly and she rubbed the back of his neck with his right hand while holding the bag with his other. "I was wondering if you would like to go see a movie on Saturday, or maybe even Friday..." he asked confidently, though a bit nervously too. Elly smiled to herself and took a moment to prolong the decision she was going to make. "sure why not" she answered and smiled sweetly. Diz smiled back, though a bit more brighter for he got the answer he was looking for. "alright! thats great and I can't wait! We're gonna have so much fun, you just wait!" he said and snuck a hug in. Elly chuckled and hugged him back, but told him she had to leave for her mother would want to know where she was and she didn't have her phone on her. "oh, and Friday sounds good" Elly told him walking back to her car. Diz smiled and held her door open for her and she thanked him; he was satisfied with his plans.
Elly went home and to her suprise, she didn't get yelled at or anything. In fact, Mrs. Meairna didn't even realize she had left. Elly just shrugged it off and went back to doing her project. She started gluing and cutting her stuff out and eventually after burning her hand on the hot glue gun, finished her poster project for the night. It seemed that Elly always burnt her hand on the glue gun, but that was something she couldn't really help doing almost all the time. it was nearly 11 before she put her things away and so she had no time to go online and shat with friends. Elly soon went to bed after that. The next morning it was raining steadily on the roof of the school and on rainy days, people in school, including peppy Elly, were very sleepy. luckily, the teachers didn't feel like teaching much today so it was either a quiet studyhall in which people slept, or it was a work day with doing either vocabulary or some kind of reading assignment. Elly started to fall asleep a lot in her math class; one it was boring, and two, it was raining. She got plenty of sleep but for some reason she was so tired today. The teacher hadn't noticed though for he was grading tests while students did some problem.
The day dragged on and during lunch everyone was a bit more talkative and excited. Elly had decided to go straight to sleep once she got home, since she would be the only one home anyways. But first she had her other classes and then she was going with Mandy to pick up some dinner for her family and go out to eat so Elly could have something. They ended up going to a gas station and Elly purchased some Slim Fast bars and an energy drink instead of a real dinner. Mandy told her she should eat something else, something more filling, but Elly refused politely. Mandy had to go and so drove Elly home and then Elly went straight to bed, not even eating what she bought. The bed was so comfortable and the sound of rain on the house made it soothing and Elly found the pillow an instant solution to her falling asleep. When Elly woke up, it was already the next day, though around 5 in the morning. She stretched and tried to go back to sleep, but wasn't tired anymore. So, she got up and took a shower, did her hair, got dressed, and made herself breakfast and even some for her mother and father. Mr. Meairna was suprised at Elly's making the breakfast, but he never said anything to her about it and just started eating. Leon wasn't home for some reason and when Mrs. meairna woke up, she thanked Elly for the breakfast and wondered if she was sick, sleeping all of last night. Elly lied slightly, saying she thought she was sick, but then realized, after waking up whis morning, that she was just tired and hungry. Mrs. Meairna agreed that that was probably what had happened and toldher daughter that she should start eating properly, rather than skipping or else she would get sick.
It wasn't raining today, but some people were still very tired. Elly hadn't realized it was Friday until her History teacher said something about a test being on Monday and that they had a whole weekend to study. Elly told Mandy about the date and Mandy's face lit up with excitement and happiness. "oh! Do you know what you are going to wear?!" Mandy asked putting her hands together and staring at Elly. she really didn't think about it much, but was sure she could find something. The weather would either be warm or breezy, depending on if it rained or not. Elly could tell that Mandy had a plan for her and instead of warning Mandy that her help was appreciated, but not needed, Elly let her do what she wanted. the rest of the class period and even some of the next was Mandy suggesting to ear this or that and that she would let Elly borrow whatever she wanted out of her closet since she didn't wear a lot of it to school often. Elly thanked Mandy and when school was done, they went to Mandy's house to get an outfit set and then she took Elly back home. Elly had to make some soup for her parents and when they came home, she told them she had a date. At first no one said anything, then Mrs. Meairna said suddenly, "you weren't joking?!?!" and she got up and asked a lot of questions. Mr. Meairna didn't care much, but Elly didn't expect him to. After dinner, she got a shower and then got dressed.
The outfit they picked out was a baby blue skirt and white shirt with a bluejean jacket on and left her hair down. She then got a call from Diz, who wanted to remind her that she was going to go out with him. She laughed and told him she was ready and he came to get her. he arrived in a shiny black car and got out to hold the door open for her. She thanked him and they were soon on therer way to go see a movie. Neither one of them had seen it and it was supposed to be a good action flick. "So you like to draw, write, walk and talk, dig, explore, ride quads, and sing?" Diz asked while they were in line to get the tickets. "wow, I have to tell you, you are one interesting girl, though you are too shy for your own good" he said with a laugh and put his arm around her shoulders until he had to pay for the tickets. Elly blushed at talking about herself like that; think ing it not right that she made herself sound so awesome, but she felt that she wasn't. They went in the theatre and got some popcorn and two drinks of Pepsi for them both. They went in a saw the movie that was two and a half hours long and when they came out, thats all they talked about while sitting on a picnic table by a nearby park. "did you see the way he jumped off that cliff and landed without a scratch?!" Elly said excitedly and Diz replied with a, "it wasn't as cool as when that chick pinned that guy down and then he disappeared and had her...wow.." he exclaimed and leaned back, looking up at the sky. It was nearly dark out, but not too soon before they started to go on a walk and talk about school and everything. Elly never noticed how cool Diz looked before. He had on jeans and converse shoes with a band t-shirt and a black jacket over top of it. His hair was black and he wore black rimmed glasses, which complemented his skin tone and hair. Diz felt Elly looking at him and posed and nodded over to her and smiled. Elly blushed and went to turn away, but Diz caught her by the waist and pulled her towards him, wrapping his arms around her. "wow you're cold. Why didn't you tell me that?" he asked, confused slightly. "oh, don't worry, I'm a girl, we always get cold at weird moments. It's not even cold out" she said and took her jeanjacket off. It was cold out without that on but Diz put it back on her for her. she thanked him but noticed his eyes looking into her's. She wasn't sure what to do so she smiled at him. He smiled back politely and talked to her about his school and how they were trying to pin him for doing something he didn't do.
"I hate when people do that. Why can't they get it right?" Elly said and thought about if she was the principal of the school she would have a talk with him and leave it at that. "you're a very nice person, you know that?" Diz told Elly and held her hand. Elly's heart was racing now. "you just found that out? I must not be doing a very good job at showing it then" Elly said with a hint of playfullness in her realization. "No, no it's not that. It's just that I nevere thought about it before. Now that I think about it, you aren't like most girls. I like it" He responded and started to swing their hands. Elly noticed that Diz was like a cousin to her. She had this one cousin who was out going and acted as though he knew you forever and that he lived with you or something. Elly liked that way Diz acted and it made her feel more confident in talking to him. "Thank you for noticing then" she told him and smiled brightly. At that moment Diz stopped and looked at Elly. "You're really pretty too" had added and you could tell he was serious and Elly thought she saw him blush a little bit. She was about to say thank you in a shy way, when he suprised her by bending down and catiously kissing her lips as though he wasn't sure he should or not. When he pulled back to look at her, Elly didn't know how to react, so she just smiled. Diz looked happy with the response and bent down again to kiss her without cation, but sweetly and wantingly. Elly felt as though she was in a twisted universe of happiness, but she didn't want to confuse herself with different emotions in case it would ruin their friendship. Yet, Elly wanted to kiss him more and more. It was her fist time kissing a boy and it wasn't as scary as she thought it might have been. Diz pulled away and apologised, though you could tell he intended for it to happen. Ely hated when guys said that, but she didn't make a big deal about it, nor did she respond that she liked it too, because she did.
They continued to talk about the schools and that there was an event that was to happen where all of the schools would go to it and help raise money for cancer patients. "yeah I have a team going on too. maybe ill see you there?" she said to Diz and he agreed that he would look for her. "to tell you the truth, I was sort of scared to talk to you when I first met you..." Elly admitted and smiled akwardly. diz asked why and she replied with, "It was just the way you were standing and all. Seemed like you didn't want to be there, nor did you like anyone either". Diz chuckled a bit and explained that when meeting new people, he's a bit shy and that it could intimidate people. "but i'm glad you decided to approach me. I couldn't thin about how to talk to you or what to say, but I liked you from the very start... something about your hair I think. and the fact that you seem and are, rather chipper for someone whose friend is in a different country" Diz told Elly, holding and swinging their arms again. "ah very observant you are" Elly said with a smile. They continued to walk a bit and then found that they were towards a gas station. "oh, thats the place where they have all of those yummy drinks" Elly said and pointed to it. "oh yeah, those cappichino ones. Lets go get some" Diz told her and pulled her towards it, not giving her enough time to argue or protest about it.
They both got french vanilla cappichino's and Diz payed for them. they left the gas station and the air seemed colder now. Probably because they had drinks that were hot and it made the outside seem colder...or maybe it was really cooling down. Diz suggested going inside his vehicle and listen to music or talk. Elly agreed to it for she was getting colder and he saw that so he put his jacket around her when they got in the vehicle. "thanks for the coffee" Elly told Diz and set hers down, putting her hands in Diz's pockets. without warning, Diz leaned over and kissed her. Elly kissed him back and could taste the cappichino he had had. "mmm, I'm glad I bought them too..." he commented, licking his lips and looking into Elly's eyes. Elly smiled and chuckled and he leaned in and kissed her again. he broke it slightly, and told her, "if you start to feel uncomfortable just push me away" and went back to kissing her again. she was ok with it, but was still new to the feeling, but she didn't let that bother her to much. the size of the vehicle wasn't too small, but the front didn't have any obsticle beside them or anything so Diz grabbed Elly's arms and pulled her onto his lap. he then slowly out his arms in and under his coat. his hands were warm on her back, but it also made Elly shiver slightly. "you're so cold!" he commented after touching her. "i told you im a girl and we get cold easily" Elly said with a ' >:I' face. Diz just laughed and burried his head into her shoulder. "you make me feel happy, which hasn't been there in a long time" Diz told her, not looking up from his position. "but you hardly know me" Elly told him, loking down at his black haired head. it was then that he looked up at her and smiled. "I feel like i've known you for a very long time, even though i've only known you for about 2 weeks..." he told her, a bit of guilt in his face. Elly just smiled and pet his head, making him smile back. God how she loved his smile.
