Lilah didn't speak for a moment after Se'rox told her her name, and that seemed abnormal to Se'rox.
"Is there something wrong?" Se'rox asked Lilah, who was still hovering somewhere out of Se'rox's "sight".
"No... I don't think so. I'm sorry. I just... that's a very interesting name. Who gave it to you?" Lilah asked, her tone thoughtful at first, and then going back to her regular concerned/friendly tone.
"I... No one gave me this name. I just have it, and it is mine." Se'rox answered. The thought that she herself was quite abnormal became incessant at this point, and gave her reason to doubt the honesty of their conversation.
"Oh. Hm." Lilah answered. She slowed her fluttering wings, and glided back down to the ground. She knew the other girl could see her, but she got the feeling that the girl needed to feel trusted right about now. There was so much about this young woman to discover, and Lilah was not one to just let things be.
"Well, Se'rox, it is a pleasure, and a surprise to meet you. What brings you out into the forest today?" Lilah asked, picking up her basket and tools.
Confused by the sudden change in the woman's demeaner, yet knowing she could flash-jump home if she needed to, Se'rox did not think she needed to worry.
"I've been scouting the area." Se'rox answered plainly.
Lilah nodded, and then covered her mouth to keep a giggle from escaping. Nodding my head to a blind person, now that was silly. she thought.
"What?" Se'rox asked, alerted but not bothering to look around. Besides some scattered trees, they were still the only things out there for at least twenty paces; at least 40 feet in every direction.
Lilah's eyes widened. "I... didn't say anything." Lilah responded to Se'rox's question.
"No, but you covered your mouth quickly. What is it? I can't see that far. Is there trouble coming?" Se'rox answered quickly, trying to asses the situation.
Lilah laughed this time, not able to contain it.
"Oh, no, no. No trouble at all. I just... you saw me cover my mouth with my hand?"
"Yes. Right after you nodded." Se'rox responded.
"Right. I did. I..." didn't think you could see that "thought you were... blind. Are you not?"
"Well, yes, I am blind, since you mention it. How did you know?"
Lilah smiled. "I'll tell you if you tell me how you knew I nodded." she responded, quite playfully.
Se'rox smiled a little. It was more a raising of the corner of her mouth, but it was a smile. "All right. I felt you move your head. I can feel movements as they travel through the ground. So. How...?"
Lilah nodded as Se'rox explained. An ability to feel earth. This was interesting. "I saw you running about. It's quite light out, but you didn't notice me until you were quite a bit closer. You never looked down, and yet you never tripped. And this forest had quite a few small bushes and whatnot. Even people with good sight have to look down occasionally."
Se'rox nodded this time, and Lilah laughed again.
"Well, then. Se'rox. You are a very interesting young lady. And I have met quite a few people in my days. Would you like to come over to my house for a cup of tea?" Lilah asked, quite sincerely and openly. She let her aura shine a bit- something she usually did not do, at least not in public. But she liked to let it go when she felt happy and excited.
Se'rox considered the offer, but noticed something odd. "What are you doing?" Se'rox asked.
Lilah tilted her head. Her aura was not visible- not to people without the ability to see auras- so she wasn't sure how Se'rox could even tell. She didn't have to respond, though, as Se'rox explained;
"The ground seems... richer. Warmer... more full of life. Right around you. Right after you asked me to tea. What are you doing?" Se'rox asked. She was not concerned; but she felt a need to know.
"Oh. Hm. That. It seems that sometimes, when life is really pleasant, it flourishes. And I seem to cast that feeling out sometimes." Lilah said. She had a stray thought come across; usually her aura also affected anyone near her, and Se'rox was more than near enough. Yet she did not seem personally affected at all.
Se'rox nodded, oblivious to the questions she unknowingly just raised in her new acquaintance.
"All right, then. Yes. I would like to try some tea. I am interested in talking with you a while more." Se'rox stated.
A moment later, the two of them were walking out of the forest and towards a large two-story house with an extensive garden (complete with greenhouse) and Lilah was telling Se'rox about the home- her home. They passed a man in the grass right outside the home who was swinging a toddler around playfully, and Lilah waved at the man, who smiled back, and nodded. Lilah and Se'rox walked to the front door, the noise of the happy toddler laughing following them. Opening the door, Lilah gestured for Se'rox to enter, and Lilah followed her in. She closed the door behind them.
