Serpent of Midgard....Lormungand
In the darkness she awoke...was she free? Shadow looked around and to her surprise could see nothing, "This cannot be!" she thought to herself. "Lloth would not have stripped her of her natural Drowic abilities after going through such extremes to re-capture her, so where are the Driders and why can't she see in this darkness?" she pondered. "The pain, it's gone too" she realized. "Where am I?" she half whispered harshly "and where is Ceru?" She became immediately alarmed. She threw herself over and up with such wild reckless abandon it became apparent that she was not wounded...or at least not wounded here, where ever 'here' is. Then in the darkness could be heard a rumbling and stirring about. Very loud and very near came a booming voice that muted every other sound in the large echoing cavern. "I am Lormungand the Great Serpent of Midgard and you mortal daughter of Lloth reek of spiders." Large red eyes opened up seeming to be the size of small planets glowing brightly enough to light the cavern and reveal to Shadow the largest dragon she had ever seen. Not even in her wildest dreams could she fathom a dragon so enormous. She would have fainted, but could not...some mystical power kept her bound to consciousness here. Instead she only stood there and gawked as if she were a horrified little girl of no more than three years old. She felt a sudden wave of shame for if her Drowic Matron Mother saw her with such an expression on her face it would have been beaten back off, for even though she was favored in youth her training had still been harsh. Then she felt anger inspired by the memories of those days. Lormungand laughed at this as though he had read her thoughts, "Good then you won't mind accepting my assistance Future Mighty Drow Empress. I think you will find my proposal to your liking for it shall aid you with your journey and help you achieve some of what it is you need to accomplish for your futures sake. I in turn shall receive the pleasure of being entertained while watching this endeavor unfold out right into Lloths lair. Nasty annoying bugs spiders are. I am bored, I shall squash her. Now give me your enchanted armor the dragoness that died for your cause gave to you. In turn I shall give you something better." Slowly Shadow removed her dragon armaments and laid them on the cavern floor before one of the massive claws of this most impressive dragon. They arose into the air and up for what seemed miles to where the beasts head was and at eye level they stopped. Then floating there before his nostril he snorted and from the nasal came flames that burst forth and consumed the armor disintegrating it instantly. It then uttered a guttural low growl that Shadow was wise enough to recognize for what it was...an incantation. This spell magic carried energy unlike any she had ever felt before and her hair stood on her neck. Then down drifted an amulet that had an elaborate silver dragon statuette in the center of fine serpentine gold and some runic symbols carved all around. "She that died for you has now been soul bound to this amulet and it to you, guard it well and it shall guard you. It posses all the same enchantments as the armor had, the soul of the white dragoness and several of her abilities and magic. Fair thee well and be gone!" It raised a mighty clawed fist and slammed it down so jarringly the earth shook and trembled. Shadow was tossed with the impact and fell back into the darkness finding herself toppling from the bedding where she lay. Eight large well armed Driders suddenly starring right at her and she realized too late to atone for it, her wound was there and now bleeding. Alarmed by the shock of pain that had shot through her leg and the Driders whose attention she now dominated, she spared only a secondary glance at poor Ceru still webbed to the wall and then turned her attention to the wound and problems at hand.
