History:
Ren's life was never set to be easy. It started with his mother, a small town girl with big city dreams; she ran away from the small Christian community in the south to the big city. She wanted to become an actress or a singer in an exclusive jazz club. She tried for many a years until eventually she gave up her showbiz dreams and settled for a normal life in an office job. It was here she met her husband. He seemed like a great man, sensitive and reliable acting as a stable support for his new Wife and their unborn child.
It all seemed too good to be true. Which it was. A year after Ren was born, his Father lost his job and took a downward spiral into depression and alcoholism. Soon, Ren's mother was the only bred winner in the house barely making enough for the family to get by whilst his Father sat in his chair waiting on his welfare and then wasting it on getting wasted. This cycle repeated itself for years, Ren growing angered by his father and working harder then ever to help his Mother.
Ren would pretty much give whatever money he earned to his mother setting aside only a little in order to go to dance lessons and buy his own gymnastics equipment; he worked two paper-routes and by the time he was 14 was helping out at a local Auto-Shop.
This continued for years and although always busy, Ren never gave up on his dancing or gymnastics; he went to school and trained everyday in order to be the best he could be. And everything seemed to be working out for once, the family were on the up with Ren paying his way and earning some sponsorship for his Gymnastics. It finally looked like Ren could have a better life, until disaster finally struck Ren out and his Mother became sick...
Hearing the news, his father bolted and Ren couldn't have given less of a damn but his main concern was for his mother as he struggled to work and find time for his dancing and gymnastic practice. he had no time for himself any more and was pulling all sorts of hours down at the shop just to get by. He just wanted to look after his mother and as her care giver he tried his hardest. But Leukaemia doesn't reward time for good sports. His Mother died and at the funeral, overcome by grief Ren's X-Gene finally surfaced and gave rise to his powers. In the middle of the service, he panicked and ran out; something everyone attributed to grief but try as he might, he couldn't stop the feelings, the emotions that were his. For months, he avoided large crowds and withdrew to himself going from the school to the shop to home. When it became too much, he moved in with his Uncle back in his Mother's old home town.
Nothing of great importance happened there, Ren caught himself a break, managing to not only get some sort of control over his powers but also succeeding in getting his life back on track. Back on the dance floor and in the gym, he was untouchable and managed to graduate his senior year with a Scholarship to SFU to study Dance.
Now Ren's in the big city, with big dreams and even bigger secrets.

Ren was approached by the X - Men at his apartment, his main reason for joining was Saphira. She captivated him, making him want to join the team hoping to get close to her. He fights not for the equal rights of Mutants or to ease the fears of Humans; he fights for Saphira and her dream and to see her smile and sing.

Pet Peeves:
○ People Who Mention His Mother - People who mention Ren's late Mother had better prepare for the coming storm afterwards especially if they use it in a negative way against him. Ren suffered whilst looking after his Mother before she died and came to know her better then anyone else, so it annoys him that people claim to have known her or try to tell him what she wanted. The reason for this is because Ren knew what she wanted, Ren knew who she was. He doesn't need reminding and emotional blackmail has never been something he's been fond of.
Darkest Secret:
○ His Powers - Ren keeps his powers a secret so that the war will leave him alone. He feels both the suffering of Mutants and the fear of normal human being nearly every single day and he doesn't want to become the fuel for either. If it guarantees him a quiet life then why not?
○ His Feelings About His Mother's Death - Although he may appear confident, cocky and sure of himself; Ren is secretly harbouring a great sadness. The death of his mother was traumatising, especially considering he was her primary care giver until she died. He doesn't like to talk about his Mother because it brings all of these emotions to the surface and often makes him lose control of his powers.
Personality:
Although cocky and confident on the surface and almost arrogant with it; Ren has sides of him that not just anyone can see. Underneath the boldness that he exudes there is actually a deeply caring and generous side; one could say that this was just down to his powers but that is not so, he's always had it in him but looking after his Mother made it come out more. The days he spent looking after her made him develop an almost selfless streak within in. When you're friends with Ren, he is a good guy and kind and thoughtful on the verge of selfless. Another thing that Ren does not show often is his drive, passion, hard working nature and never give up mentality. Working from a young age made Ren work hard for everything and his want to dance and his gymnastic discipline made him never want to give up anything.
However, due to his powers Ren has always had to make sacrifices and become reclusive. With his powers, he can't get too close to anyone or he can peek into their deepest emotional secrets. This makes him insecure and lonely. Having to sacrifice mass social groups for close knit friends.
Non-Power skils:
○ Dancer - Ren has been a dancer since a young age, way before his X-gene was even in his life. It saved his life though when his powers did manifest because not only did it provide him with a distraction and keep him in good shape. It also allows him to blow off steam when his powers become too much.
○ Gymnast - Ren has been a gymnast since he was 10. It has been most useful to him not only helping him with his dancing but also with his fitness and natural agility. His proficiency in gymnastics once had his genetics questioned. His teacher asked him to be screened for the X-Gene due to his talents but his Mother refused on the grounds she could not afford her own hospital bills and could not handle more expenses for expensive tests.
○ Auto-Mechanic - Ren has worked as a Mechanic since he was about 14 to help his mother out. Over his years working, he has become more then familiar with car parts and their construction. This once again provides a distraction for Ren and a way to keep fit. It has also made him adept in the driving of automobiles.

Ideal Lover: Ren's ideal lover is not only a girl who can dance so they can keep up with him but a girl who isn't too complicated. His powers often don't allow him to get too close to people. Someone who could overcome this would help Ren a lot.
Friendships:
○ Chris Carlyle - Ren's room mate. They don't know much about each other and often try to avoid deep, personal conversations. The two met through NYU's Dance Major course where Chris was a guest lecturer. Ren was impressed by the man's awesome skills in dance and soon they found themselves in clubs battling each other; the new boy in the city versus almost dance royalty. The two grew to like each other and moved in together.

Powers: Empathy ~
The manipulation and perception of Emotions through telepathic means.
○ Emotional Omniscience - Ren can feel the emotions of all the people around him as if they were his own. Thanks to this ability, he can sense a person with the intent to harm or tell if someone is lying. This power though does not turn off causing Ren to have to shut himself off emotionally and concentrate profusely to separate his own emotions from the emotions around him. Even a slight lapse in concentration may see him over-cumbered by the tidal wave of emotion that would flood over him prompting erratic and potentially volatile behaviour.
○ Emotional Projection - When can project his own emotions onto others editing the victims emotions. He can do this via two methods; the first is projection throughout the surrounding area. While projecting an emotion in this way Ren can bring people's emotional state closer to his own e.g: If someone were to get angry at him, Ren could project a calming aura in order to avoid the conflict coming to blows. Although the change is not absolute and seems to only shift the emotion from one extreme to the other, it can be very useful.
The second method Ren can use to project emotions is through skin to skin contact. He can turn this ability off but when Ren touches someone he can either project his own emotions onto them, making them feel how he feels until contact is broken or be a bridge between two different people. By touching one person and then touching another, Ren can project their emotions onto eachother so they may better understand eachother.
○ Slight Emotional Manipulation - Ren can manipulate the emotional state of a single person within his field of vision. However, this change is not significant. Ren can only manipulate the current emotion the person is feeling between two extremes. For example, if someone is tired and Ren wants them to go to sleep then he can give them that little extra push to make them want to go to sleep or even if he wants them to leave he can make them feel more awake. Note, he does not make them feel awake, he makes them feel more awake. This is an important difference.
○ Advanced Emotional Manipulation - After Ren has practised with his powers enough, he can now manipulate the emotional state of a handful of people at the same time if they are feeling the same emotion. He can now change their emotional state to one linked to it. E.g: If someone is angry, Ren can channel their anger into frustration instead.
○ Masterful Emotional Manipulation - Ren has complete control over someone else's emotional spectrum, able to manipulate multiple people feeling multiple emotions at the same time, Ren now has total dominance over their mood taking them anywhere from happy to tired to depressed to angry in a manner of seconds.
○ Emotional Tracking - Ren can lock onto the 'Emotional Signature' of someone and track them over long distances. However, the more and more people between him and them makes it harder to track the target thanks to the surrounding emotions creating a sort of chaff that distorts Ren's tracking ability.
○ The Use of Emotions as Telepathic Chaff - With further training of his powers and realising his own short comings, Ren devised an intelligent way in which he can overcome his own weaknesses and use his powers against telepathic opponents trying to read his mind. First, Ren had to realise that his power was also telepathic in a way and second of all he had to learn to totally isolate himself from the emotions he feels from in and around himself; he can then when a telepath tries to read his mind, move these emotions to the forefront of his mind using them as a shield. He can also do this if he suspects a telepath is in the area not only making him almost impossible to read but making him hard to locate as the emotions act like chaff, disrupting the telepaths sensing abilities. Sometimes he may even 'pass' these emotions on, giving the telepath just a taste of what he feels everyday and with the telepath not used to it as Ren is; sometimes the results are not pretty.
Weaknesses: Ren's weakness is also his greatest strength, His powers. His power requires immense amounts of concentration to keep himself sane. If his concentration is broken, his psyche is at risk of drowning under the emotional weight around him. This concentration is not just hard to maintain but leaves Ren's mind open to telepathy; he cannot amount a decent defence against other telepathic mutants without risking losing concentration on his own powers.
