Been a while since I've kept up with this. Had a longass huge one a couple months ago that I remember almost perfectly, but I've recounted it in so many other places I don't feel like doing it here. In any case, last night's:
I'm some kind of instructor/mentor for a group of people who hunt supernatural creatures. I'm a quiet, mild-mannered young woman, though for some reason my internal monologue consists mostly of '******** you's and 'wtf is this s**t's. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think I (or rather, the character I was observing the events as) was attempting to rebel against something I couldn't quite sense, because everything around me seemed quite reasonable for the setting.
There was a young man resembling Yamato Hotsuin from Devil Survivor 2 there, though he had a kinder, softer personality than the character he resembled...though I think that was just the perception of the character I was observing through, and that he was actually a very cold, indifferent person. He appeared to be in charge of everything, and was sort of a security blanket for the viewpoint character.
As the dream progressed, the mental rebelling against her surroundings intensified, to the point that it was really starting to confuse me, and wonder if something strange was going on that I wasn't consciously privy to. As I look around, trying to figure out what was wrong, everything seems to start unraveling around me, and when it stops and I finally regain my bearings, I realize that the viewpoint character was really some kind of water spirit resembling a mermaid, bound into servitude to previously mentioned organization by the Yamato-lookalike. She is being 'rescued' by other mermaids after they spent months, if not years, unbinding her. However, she still protests against being rescued even after regaining portions of her memory, and though this is just speculation, she initially left the others for a reason. The other mermaids, believing that the binding magic has become too woven into her being to be properly removed, attempt to cleanse her...by feeding her to a giant sea monster so she can be 'reborn'.
She escapes from her captors, and as they weren't very far into the ocean, she soon makes it back to the city she was removed from. Upon reaching the city, she drags herself up the docks (because unfortunately, at the moment, she had a fish tail instead of legs) and back to the unnamed organization's building, where the half-conscious (as he was beaten into submission by the other water spirits to rescue the viewpoint character) Yamato-lookalike was lying. Just as she grasps his hand, the other water spirits have caught up with her and attempt to drag her away again. Just as her grasp is about to slip from his hand and she's pulled away again, Yamato-lookalike tightens his grip on her and does something or other to expel the other water spirits.
The viewpoint character's memory is still fuzzy, but she's absolutely convinced that she made the right decision, and there was something (excuse the pun) fishy about her would-be rescuers. Yamato-lookalike doesn't explain anything to her, though does pull her into a tight hug.
In the end, I think the two of them hooked up or something.
