After watching a news special on that wonderfully one-sided network known as CNN trash Bill O'rly (-beam- I made a funny!), I've decided to take matters into my own hands.
Okay, so what's the deal with minorities having or not having rights? Aren't the U.S. rights and freedoms all universal...? Yes! they are! This means minorities already HAVE equal constitutional rights. Why do we need to argue about it? The fact that we are all human, and (most likely) all legal residents of the US, there's nothing to complain about. If you are personally wronged, deal with it on a case-by-case basis.
The main reason we still have racism and segregation in the U.S. today is simple, the racism card! If there is one thing that people hate, it's other people saying: "Oh, you won't let me do it because I'm [insert race/creed/sexuality here]."
This is what causes segregation! You separate yourself from society due to your 'subclassification' and people begin to recognize your group as different. Different becomes weird, which in turn becomes: "Junior, I don't want you playing with [group]." "Aww, but mom, Billy's [group] and he's alright!" "[Group] are horrible people! I forbid you from playing with them."
And in politicians going for the 'Gay Vote,' 'Black Vote,' and etcetera, they're doing this too: "Junior, You cannot play with the boy from that black family that moved in across the street are no good liberals!" "Mom... they're all conservative...?" "No no no! I saw on the news that the black mentality is generally geared towards the left-wing!"
This sort of stupidity is dividing us as a nation. Seriously, stop seeing each other in terms of color, sexuality, political or religious views, ect, and see each other as fellow human beings.
If we can't do at least this much, we have no hope of advancing as a people.
