This is based on an photograph I found of a dog in black and white somewhere online (of which I cannot find anymore). How could someone simply watch when a lonely dog looks up at you in the gloom of the streets? I know I couldnt. And so I painted this one on a 4x7 or so inch canvas (which is quite small). It is in black and white on purpose and the only color, the cigarette, represents the gloom and how the dog has been disregarded by someone all the same.
