Years ago, in old lands of yore, the holly hung high.
The fires called out in crackling joy and the trees stood proud along the sky.
Families of all come into song, and the holiday cheer be nigh.
But as the carol goes, as they hung by the chimney with care, all stockings lay empty in demise.
For this time of year, the decorations flow freely, and the songs be sung merrily, but the stockings lie empty and dry.
Be it not for a little girl and her heart of joy that sets the season right, by hanging these winters stocking with care, so that all may see and be happy this night.
For what is it that inspires us all but the traditional festivities of all.
