• The Spectre of the Night

The moonlight has become my cloak
    The dark is my domain
I roam about the broken night
And hold Hell on its chain

I walk upon the middle line
    I am the arbiter
I do not feel the thousand years
    I’m searching for a cure

    I feel no-thing. I’m always numb.
I’m damned with out a chain
I am the Spectre of the Night
    Who’s curs-ed and profaned.

I’ve all the power of the world
    But I have not control
I cannot save one from the grave
    I only guide the soul

I feel her lips. She holds me close.
She is my love, my light
She knows my past. She knows that I’m
    The Spectre of the Night

“I can show you a better life,”
    She softly said to me.
I held her close, I felt her warmth.
“My Love, please set me free”

She stares at me with loving eyes
And says, “Will you be mine?
To hug, to kiss, to hold in bliss?”
    “I’m yours, my sweet divine.”

I was her angel in the day,
    A demon in the night.
She always knew I loved her too,
    And she became my light.

Time went on and so did we,
    A demon and a girl.
Our love was not a normal love
‘Twas as rare as a pearl.

It was a timeless love, our love
    Deepening with the years
Until that day, that fateful day,
Which gave me back my tears.

    Sephora was stolen away,
    From my warm, loving, arms.
The hunt began. I had no plan
But to save her from harm.

She left her rose, the thorns still there.
The blood fell from my palm
As I did grasp her final sign,
    Unable to keep calm.

My mortal wound, which left me whole,
Stung as I searched for her.
My only love, my life, my world,
    My one divinely pure.

I roamed about the wasted lands,
    I hunted what took her.
‘Demon Slayer’ they did call me
    And very apt they were.

Belial was the first I asked
To say what he could tell
He then outlived his use to me
I sent him back to Hell.

So many would fall in my wake
    Demon and human both.
But I now knew my target’s name
I knew him, he was Khoth.

Khoth, the master of Hell’s armies
    One of the first Fallen,
Took a young girl, this human girl,
    Who taught me love again.

Straight into Hell I journeyed on,
    Walking among the hounds.
The thorns dug in, blood for my sin
    Fell on unholy grounds.

I reached Khoth’s keep. I felt her sleep,
    My perfect divine rose.
She was alive. Would she survive?
    And I grasped Thanatos.

The gate broke with a single strike.
    I entered the main hall.
I saw him then and said to him,
“And now, Khoth, you shall fall.”

The great demon spoke then and said,
“By your hand? I think not.”
I swung to strike him where he stood.
My scythe his blade then caught.

The ground shattered and back we flew.
    The hatred filled the room.
Khoth spat a laugh and howled at me,
“I will show you her doom.”

Thanatos smote the floor and ground.
    His fortress fell apart.
And there she lay upon the stone.
And crushed then was my heart.

The bells rang and pierced through the din
Khoth then charged me in haste
I dodged his strikes and countered back,
    Striking him as he raced.

Out from the hell fires, he then called
    Eronoch the dark flame.
The demon growled, and bore its fangs
This beast I could not tame.

    “Per ira Domini,” I spoke
    As Thanatos then howled
    Eronoch retreated back down.
Khoth charged me as he growled.

His blow landed, and I returned.
    “In lux lucis iam, Khoth”
“What is she to you, Spiritus?”
“To her, I swore an oath.”

I called upon the angels then,
    “Suus salus, Angelus.”
“They can not save her, Spiritus.”
    “Paeniteo, non Sanctus.”

He mocked me as we fought, “Repent?
    You must be deluded.”
    He moved faster, swinging harder.
    His strikes I eluded

He then fled back, to Sephora.
    I pursued and then fell,
As his sword then pierced through her heart,
The Pain no curse can tell.

Her blue eyes stared right into mine.
    She took her final breath.
The Hell-wind howled, the Darkness growled.
“Khoth, you shall soon feel Death.”

    The Darkness overwhelmed my thoughts.
The ground was chilled by frost.
Khoth said, “Umbra in nox Noctis…”
“And now, You’ll pay the cost”

    Thanatos swung at Khoth again
    Breaking his blade in two.
    The Darkness overwhelmed Khoth then
    And Thanatos struck hard

    Thanatos struck Khoth like lightning
    And thundered just as hard.
The Darkness struck too fast at Khoth
    And the ground became scarred.

The bells rung deep: this time for Khoth.
    The Darkness grasped his blade
He laid it there, just next to Khoth.
    And Khoth began to fade.

The Darkness then released my mind
And back to earth I went.
I carried her back to her world.
    Her loss I would lament.

To lose a love so deep so strong
    How does one survive that?
I checked her wound, and saw just flesh.
    The blood tattooed her skin.

Her breath came back, her pulse returned.
Her blue eyes stared at mine.
She smiled and whispered, “I love you.”
    “I love you, Sweet Divine.”
