Ermac is a collection of souls created by Shao Kahn. After Shao Kahn's death Ermac wandered around Outworld until the Earthrealm warrior Kenshi freed him from Shao Kahn's control.
I know some things are not completely accurate,like the jewel,but this is as close as I could get.

just to let u know because im a total MK nerd. Shao khan didnt collect the souls of ermac...Shang Tsung did, im sure people think that shao khan did but Shang Tsung worked for him at the time so..yeah but 5/5 man
