During the "Retrieve Sasuke" arc in the anime and manga series Naruto while Chouji was fighting the member of the sound four known as Jiroubou after taking the Akimichi Clan's special "Red Pepper" pill, Chouji's chakra became so great that it appeared in the form of butterfly wings, his namesake.
"Chou" is the Japanese word for "Butterfly".
