Kappa are water sprites that inhabit Japan's waterways. They range from mischievous to dangerous, sometimes playing pranks or even kidnapping children.
An unusual Kappa feature is the bowl of water on their heads. If it becomes empty the kappa will become very weak and maybe die. If you ever encounter a kappa, introduce yourself first and bow politely. The monster will feel compelled to bow back, spilling the water in the bowl on his head. Time to run away! - Date: 04/12/2010
