It is associated with a desire of merchants to take advantage of particularly heavy Christmas-related shopping before Halloween. This little character personifies how Christmas infiltrates Halloween. I combined X-mas colors with a Halloween theme to create the subtle commercialization on how retailers get people to think about X-mas.
