Ma'at, daughter of the sun god Ra, was the goddess of truth, justice, law & order. She was often depicted with an ostrich feather on her head or holding it. The feather of Ma'at was used to measure the heart of the deceased. If the scale balanced, the deceased was unburdened by sins and allowed to go on to the afterlife.
