There once was a woman who loved her husband, but she was not loved by Zeus. When her husband went on a voyage Zeus sent a storm to kill her beloved husband, and when she learned of what had become of her husband she through herself into the sea and drowned herself. The gods turned her into a bird, and she still mourned her dead husband.
The bird is known as a Halkyon, or Halcyon, and is a harbinger of mourning and calm.
