You know, some say that when you die, your soul goes to either Heaven, or Hell. Well, what happens when you go to neither, and stay on Earth?
My name is Sidney. I'm what most people would call a normal guy. I have a job, my own house, and a fiancee that I am madly in love with. I live in a suburban area, filled with nice people. But, there is one thing about me that is out of the ordinary. For the past two years, since my fiancee and I moved into our house, I've been having these nightmares about this house down in the city, in the abandoned district.
About three months ago, I took a trip there alone to see why I had been having those nightmares. I managed to pick the lock, and take three steps inside before my legs froze up. Before I could do anything, even speak a word of surprise, my entire body froze in place. While I was paralyzed, I could hear noises. Loud foghorn noises echoed throughout the house and through every inch of my body.
I fell unconscious and awoke in my bed, informed by Felicia, my fiancee, that I had been sleeping the entire time. I had had enough of just the tip of the iceberg. I finally decided to get two of my best friends, Frank and Jesse, who I have known for most of my life. We decided to drive out there in the weekend that Felicia was staying at her friend's house.
We decided to take my van to the site. We parked it in a location that you can't see unless you're really looking for it. I picked the lock again, and Frank stepped in first, aiming his pistol at anything that might attack us. It was safe to go in. We all stepped inside, and we didn't hear a noise.
Jesse looked around and sighed. "Boy, whoever used to own this house didn't know how to take care of it."
"That's what it seems like. This place reeks of dried blood and dust." I said, cupping my hand over my mouth and nose.
Frank started to say something, but was cut off by a soft, childish laughter. It came from the hallway in front of us. We cautiously walked down the hallway, with myself and Jesse behind Frank, who had the fully loaded pistol ready. We followed the hallway until we emerged in a dining hall. What we seen made Frank vomit on himself. The dining hall was covered from wall to wall with what seemed like fresh blood.
In the middle of the hall, a little girl wrapped in a bloody white dress was playing with what looked like a skeleton.
Jesse stepped forward and approached the girl. He held out his hand to the strange girl and smiled. "Holy s**t, how did you get in here? Do you need help? We'll get you out of here!" The girl looked at Jesse and he let out a ear shattering scream. Before I could say anything, Jesse collapsed onto the floor, missing the hand that he held out to the girl.
Next to him, lay his severed hand, and fresh blood dripping from the girl's mouth. I looked at Jesse's motionless body, then to Frank who had dropped the pistol. The girl looked at Frank and I and we were shocked to see that the girl had no eyes. She got off of her knees and crept toward us, letting out the loud, foghorn noise I had heard three months ago. Frank turned at bolted down the hall. I grabbed the pistol off of the floor and put three rounds into the girl, but to no avail, she still crept toward me, but faster.
I found Frank curled up in the far corner of a bathroom. "Dude, what the [********], do you think you were doing?! We ******** left Jesse back there to die!"
"I'm sorry. Fear got the best of me. That girl, she struck me with fear that I have never felt in my life." Frank was crying his eyes out.
We stayed in the restroom, hoping the girl wouldn't find us. After an hour, we started to hear shuffling noises outside of the bathroom door. Multiples noises that sounded like slithering. Once the noises stopped, we decided that we were going back for Jesse, and leaving immediately. When we were ready, the door knob turned, and welcomed in a gang of shadows, along with a moving object that was hidden by the shadows. It made a moaning sound that wasn't recognizable. I quickly grabbed the pistol and shot at the object, which dropped it to the ground.
The shadows retracted to reveal Jesse's dead body. I finally realized what I had done when Frank, once again, broke out into tears. I felt tears well up in my eyes and I knelt next to Jesse's body and prayed for him. I was ready to leave, but Frank had other plans.
"You killed him." Frank said through clenched teeth.
I looked at Frank, with sorrow in my eyes. "I know Frank, but I didn't know that was him. If I would've known, I wouldn't have shot."
"You killed him." Frank said again, this time rising to his feet.
'Frank, I'm -" I was cut off by a punch to the face by Frank. Frank was a strong guy. The punch knocked me off of my feet and launched me into the wall, making a huge hole where landed. Before I could gather my senses, Frank grabbed me by the hair and threw me to the ground, punching me in the face.
I managed to get him off of me by stabbing him in the arm with a splintered piece of wood. He rolled over and I managed to get up. I turned to Frank to see the barrel of his pistol in my face.
"You killed him. Now, I'm going to kill you." Frank said, with a crazed smile on his face, drenched with sweat and blood.
"Frank, buddy. It's me. I've been your friend since the third grade. We're like brothers, man. You don't want to kill me." I said, trying to lower his guard so I could disarm him.
"I don't care who you are, I'm going to splatter your brains on the wall, and leave this place, being the only survivor." Frank let out a blood chilling laugh that sent chills throughout my body.
For sure I was going to die, I closed my eyes and waited for my impending doom. But, I heard a slithering sound coming from behind Frank. I opened my eyes to see large tentacles grasping around Frank and dragging him out of the room. I heard him begging for my help. I looked into his eyes, smiled and waved good bye. His scream echoed through the house as he was pulled away violently.
I turned, prepared to leave, and was met with the eyeless face of the little girl who was repsonsible for killing my friends.
I looked at her, smiled and spoke in a confident voice. "If you're going to kill me, do it now. Or let me leave. I'm tired of these games. Kill. Me. Now!"
The girl must have understood me, for she turned and pointed towards the door. She spoke in two tones of voices, one heavenly, almost serene, the other dark, sinister and demonic. "These trials you have faced and passed, were all set up by the one closest to you. One who knows you the best and loved you."
I looked at her, confused. "Who is it?"
She slowly turned her head to me, but her face wasn't the same. "It was me."
I fell to my knees, shocked. "Why? Why would you do this? I trusted you, and you do this to me." I said, pointing at Jesse's dead body.
"If you want to leave, do it now, before I change my mind." The girl said.
I left the house and bolted toward my van. I opened the door to find an envelope filled with money, and a note. I drove to my house, gathered my things, and left to no where specific, trying o get away from that horrible experience.
I never saw the face that the girl wore again. The face of my fiancee Felicia.

- Its an amazing story, and i dont find it very gory or violent at all. It does remind me of the grudge though...
