• Prince and the Pauper
    chapter 2
    Neji

I was smiling the whole way to school as I kept peering at Myoko from the other end of the car. We were on our way to Cambrige and Myoko was being fussy and kept fixing her hair and outfit shaking the whole time. I sighed and put my hand on her shoulder and she finally relaxed. I shifted my body to sit next to her and took her hand to comfort her. It calmed her breathing and she leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes. When we arrived her eyes snapped open and she let go of my hand so she could jump from the car and jump around like a child. I wrapped an arm around her waist to restrain her excitement and dragged her into the large building. All night I had been thinking of Myoko and I had felt this warm feeling when I was around her although we had only known each other for one day. I had been thinking of these occurrences all through the drive. I dragged Myoko by her hand and I saw her blush and others staring at us as we passed. When I saw the people staring at us I began to pull Myoko even harder to get away.

After we had signed in at the office and found our homerooms we bid goodbye and a quick hug before dispersing into the crowd of kids. I turned to watch Myoko sway through the crowd and I found myself admiring her. I snapped myself out of it and ran to homeroom. We got our lockers and combinations during homeroom so Ms. Lango (my homeroom teach) brought us out to let us practice and chat all day. I noticed the other classes filing from their rooms too and I saw Mr. Malkio’s (Myoko’s teach) class emerge after the others. I saw Myoko break from the line like the others to find her locker. I smiled to myself and began to walk over to my locker.

After practicing my locker combination for a few minutes I decided to go over and say hi to Myoko. When I had gotten over to her she turned and gasped, “sorry! sorry!” I cried out, “No, No! my fault I’m practically blind,” She chuckled. “So how to you like it?” I asked, “Better then thought to be” she answered and grinned. I smiled back then heard Ms. Lango calling for her class. “Crap I gotta go” I muttered, “Okay I’ll see you later Neji!” she called out after me and we both waved goodbye.

During the first 3 periods I had been bored stiff, till lunch. I bought my lunch and swerved in and out of groups to a table in the edge of the cafeteria. I munched on my sandwich slowly scanning the crowd for Myoko. When I spotted her I waved and after she had grabbed her lunch she almost ran straight through the crowd that moved out of her way. All boys staring. She sat next to me and smiled and I grinned back. “Enjoying yourself?” I asked, “It’s boring without you there!” she cried out. I laughed at her sudden displeasure and she giggled beside me. “My god, everyone is staring at us,” Myoko commented shortly after her laughter. I looked around the cafeteria at all the staring faces that bored into my face with jealousy. I froze my sight and zeroed in on a certain guy. He looked like one of the bullies in a cartoon that were big, dumb, and bulky. My eyes closed and I gritted my teeth. When I opened my eyes again he was staring at Myoko. She was sitting close to me holding my hand comfortingly with worried eyes. “What is it?” she hissed in my ear. “Nothing” I mumbled and stood with my empty tray in hand.

I stalked over to the other side of the cafeteria over to the bulky pervert. “What do you think your doing?” I growled. He glanced down at me and smirked, “Look here boys, this shrimp thinks he can take me on!” He laughed over his shoulder to three lackeys. They laughed along with him and I gritted my teeth again. I glanced over my shoulder at Myoko staring after me and glowering at the bulky mass of a boy. “Kick his nose in Marc!” one of the lackeys shouted at the supposed ‘Marc’. I growled again deep in my chest clenching my hands around my tray. “Hey buddy, why don’t you cut the crap and quit stalking my friend?” I spoke sharply. “I’d rather not.” Marc answered grinning like an idiot. That did it. I snapped, I felt the thick metal tray bending by the will of my hands. Marc’s eyes went wide and his mouth in an “O”. He began to back away with his lackeys trailing behind. I threw the tray and it smashed into a wall with a snap. Myoko ran over to me and wrapped her arms around me, “are you alright?” she whispered in my ear. “I’m fine” I whispered. “Never do that again,” she growled squeezing my chest. “Okay, okay,” I answered chuckling softly.

After a long day at school we were finally able to go home. Myoko and I climbed into the car slowly, thoughtful, I tapped my chin. “Well that was an interesting first day,” Myoko commented after a few minutes of silence. “Quite” I answered, “I take it you like to pick fights?” she asked, “No actually, he had been ‘staring’ you may say. Made me uncomfortable,” I answered shyly. I saw her cheeks go red again and I ducked my head. “That was very brave of you to stand up for me,” she whispered. “Like I said, I had felt uncomfortable” I commented.
When we got back home I almost fell out of the car and Myoko was by my side in a flash, “Are you okay? did you hurt yourself at all?” she asked, “Yes, Yes I’m fine Myoko.” I answered. I stood up holding her hand, and led her into the house and back to my bedroom. I slumped onto the bed and let go of her hand to put my face in my hands. “What would you do if I told you I faced a dilemma?” I asked through my hands. “It depends on the dilemma,” she answered. “What if it was about liking someone?” I asked, “Okay... shoot” she sounded confused. “Well, I think I may like a girl, but she doesn’t know. I’m trying to find out how to show her or tell her,” I mumbled. I looked up to see Myoko’s thoughtful face, I stared at her, taking in her blonde hair and silver eyes. I realized she was staring back at me and I turned away quickly.

After a few seconds she put her finger under my chin and turned my head. She was smiling but her eyes were still thoughtful. “I think I may know who you like,” she spoke quietly and before I could react to her answer she had her lips to mine. It was a soft kiss but still unsure and I reacted, wrapping my arms around her. Then, she pushed away I sighed and looked up to her face. She was still smiling but more enjoyed than odd. I grinned then suddenly flushed and so did she. We weren’t allowed together. A maid and a rich man’s son was like Romeo and Juliet. I heard her gasp and I snapped my head up. Tears were flowing down her face leaving streaks down her cheeks.

I haven't finished this so don't criticize too much!
