• "It is almost morning when this story starts. The story
about old man David and his unusual day. David is now
close to the moment where his eyes will open, but for
now he is still fast asleep. This gives us a short moment
to talk about David himself. David is a lonesome man
whom have lived almost his entire life in the small cottaged
in the middle of the forest. Living of whatever the nature
bringed him for the day. He is a very old man, he has
reached the age few men reach. His only friend is a wolf
black as night, named Shadow. And the Wolf has been by
Davids side, as long as he care to remember. Oh, we dont
have any more time to talk. David is just about to wake up."

The sunrays from the rizing sun dance over Davids face
slowly waking him up from his sleep.

    - With the Sun-Gods blessing, i will se another day

The same phrase that David always say before opening his eyes
and getting out of bed. He slowly puts on his clothes and opens
the door to the forest and takes a deep breath of the morning
air. His belly gives of the sound of hunger and David knows
its time for breakfast. He turns around and pick upp a dagger
from the shelf behind him and the old bow that had been resting
    on the wall.

    - "Another day, another day. Today will be a calm day"

Are the thoughts running trough his head while he slowly walks
out of the cottages and gestures to the wolf to stay behind.
He takes a deep breath before starting walking down his own
path into the forest but moment into the forest he gives out
    a sigh and says.

    - Its the damn same thing, every damn day

He mumbels irritated as he walks back to the cottage and takes
the arrows resting under where the bow was hanging, wich he
somehow always forgets. Now back into the forest again and this
time with his arrows he still mutters irritetad as he arrives
at his usual hunting place. He slowly sits down to wait.

    - Sooner or later. Something will come past here.

He says for himself and leans back onto to a tree. He closes
his eyes and listens to the quiet sound of the birds chirping
and the slow flow of water, running in the river close by.
Suddenly his eyes opens because he can hear some thing running
closer and closer. He slowly stands up and hides behind the tree.
Readying the bow with an arrow aiming in the direction of the
sound. Out of the bushes a young Cathorion female jumps out.
She stops and looks around. David takes a step forward from
the tree with the bow still aimed at her

    - Why do you look so frightened, young Cathorian?

He asks. She turns towards david and stares on him with her
cat-like eyes. Her cat ears moves restlessly in the wind as
a cat listening for danger. From one of her whiskers a drop
of sweat drops glittering in the sun. She flexes her muscles
    ready to run.

    - Don't even think about it.

David states and pulls the string with the arrow.

    - I have a name.

Says the young Cathorion but still with her cat-like eyes
locked on him with a tense stare.

    - Aaah, so Cathorions can speak then.

David answers and looks closer at female. She looks almost
like a young girl, about 16 years old. with only a few
diffrens, like the cat ears and eyes, her body seem much
slender and agile, and she dosn't wear any shoes because
feet have cat-like claws and the same with her hands.
And her tail wags nervously back and forth. Her clothes
look dirty and broke, like it could be any poor homeless
person. She squats down and flexes her muscles ready to
    run again.

    - Out of my way human, or i will have to go trough you.

She says and takes out two small daggers, she had been hiding in
    her boots

    - I don't want to harm you.

David says but his old body looses the grip of the bow and fires
the arrow straight towords her. Her eyes focus on the arrow
and with a swift and graceful movement, she splits the arrow
with her daggers then jumps over David and runs away.

    - ”That was unexpected”

David thinks for himself while he leans back to the tree.
To thinking about what actually just happend. He dosn't get
more then to sit down before four horsemen in black armor
rides up to him and a voice behind one of the black masks asks.

    - YOU THERE!! Have you seen an Chatorion run past here!?!

    - Yes, she ran that way.

David answers and points them in the wrong direction the men
nods and rides in that direction past David.

    - ”That should give her a day atleast”

He thinks while slowly rizing from the ground again to go
home before something else happens. Finaly back home David
lets out a sigh and puts down the bow and arrows. and sits
down on a chair by his table. When he hears Shadow growling.
David pulls out his dagger with his left hand and turns on
the light on the oillamp with his right hand. In a corner
on a shelf lays the Chatorion femal staring scared at the
    Wolf

    - Shadow, that is enough.

David says and the wolf walks back to davids side and sits
down, but still staring at the Chatorion.

    - So Chatorion why are you in my cottage?

David asks after a while. She slowly climbs down from the
shelf not letting her eyes of the wolf, she answers.

    - I have a name.

To the chatotions surprise, David bursts out in laughter
then he leans back in the chair.

    - Im guessing thats all you can say,
because you have still not given me a name.

David says finaly. She locks her stare at David.

    - My name is Cathara

She says and hisses, but quickly quiets down when the wolf
    rises and shows his theeth.

    - And my name is David, and now back to the
reson you are in my cottage.

David says and rises from the chair.

    - It has nothing to do with you.

She explains annoyed and looks for an open window. David
walks up to a shelf beside the stowe.

    - There is always a reson for someone to be inside of
someone elses cottage. And by the way, im sure the
    Wolf is quicker then you.

David answers from behind the shelfs. Cathara looks at the
Wolf wich follows her every movement. Her muscles tenses.

    - Precisly as fast as you where not to hurt me?

    She says annoyed.

    - You are comparing an shaky old man with a wolf.

David calmly answers and turns towards the table. Cathara
starts to sniff the air while looking at David as he walks
    towards the table.

    - You can come here if you tell me why you are
    in my cottage.

David says while putting out some dried meat and some milk
on the table. Then he points at the wolf to go outside.
Chatara sneaks closer to the table.

    - I was hungry and was hoping to find some food
when i was attacked by that crazy demon dog.

She says now even more irritated. she squats down and
    takes out her daggers again.

    - I can think of three resons not to do that,
one, the wolf would either hear me scream
or smell my blood in the air. Two, i may be
old but i have my tricks. And finaly, if you
kill me you will never know where you are.
As i see it, you have two choises. Either
come here and eat, or leave.

David says. Chatara looks around and twitches when she sees
the wolf stareing back at her from the other side of the
windows. She quietly puts back the daggers then slowly sneaks
over to the table. Gives a quick glance at David then quickly
    eats everything on the table.

    - I'll leave now.

Catharina says and stands up. David puts his finger over his
mouth signaling Cathara to be quiet. And the wolf slowly sneaks
into the cottage. Shadow intensly looks at the forest now
ignoring Cathara and listening to the noises of the forest.

    - You can leave when its safe, or when you absolutly
    have to, not before.

David whispers as he tells the wolf to hide in the shadows.
And the blackness of the wolf makes him almos invicible in
the shadows with only his yellow eyes following David as he
walks outside. As he walks outside David can now hear people
closing in and from the forest he can now se soldiers in
the same black armor as the horse-men closing in.

    - WHERE IS THE CATHORIAN!?

One of the soldiers shouts as they all pulls out their
    swords

    - How should i know?

David says askingly. The soldiers close in on him with
Their swords aiming a blow against him. David streches
his back and stares back at them as they ready the
swords above their heads. As they swing their swords
david moves in one simple movement parrying one of
the swings and avoiding the other swings. An arrow
flies trough the air and David stumbles back a cuple
of steps back. An arrows sticks out from his chest
and blood slowly folows the arrow and drips from
the end sprinkling the green grass with dots of red.
David can see the Wolf runnig out from his hiding place
and throwing himself at one of the soldiers, biting
firmly to its neck, David can hear the crunching sound
of the soldiers neck breaking as the soldier falls to
the ground. David takes a few steps forward and stabbs
his dagger into on of the guards. Another arrow flies
trough the air and hits David in his leg. David throws
his daggar in the direction of the arrow but fumbels
and hits another guard instead. The wolf throws himself
at another soldier and David can hear the singing sound
of another arrow cutting trough the air, again and again.
David now has difficulties breathing and fall to his
knees. He can hear the wolf cry out in pain the Shadow
falls down infron of david with an arrow trough his chest.
The Wolf despretly gasps for air and David can hear another
arrow soar trough the air. This time the hit makes him
fall backwards and he can feel all his power flow out of
his body, as the blood slowly colors the grass glittering
    red.

    - THERE SHE IS!

One of the soldiers shout. And all the soldiers begin walking
towards that direction. David glances at the cottage and can
just see Cathara dissapear over the roof. But soon after
darkness slowly falls over his eyes and he can now only hear
the soldiers as the leave to follow Cathara.

    - This is an most unexpected ending for us old friend.

David couhs as he speaks, David can hear the wolf gasping
for air as it struggles then he feels the wolfs nose pressing
on his hand. With a final surge of power David lifts his hand
and slowly strokes the wolfs fur, now sticky with blood. While
David slowly strokes the wolf he can hear how the wolfs
    breathing shakes then dissapears.

    - Very, unexpected, old friend.

David says as a tear glittering in the sun slowly wanders down
his cheak, David slowly falls into the darkness and his heart
    stops beating.
